Simon,
ChromeVox works best within the ChromeBook environment. I'm not familiar with
it's functionality within Windows, but on the Mac, the biggest limitation of CV
is that it does not work with the MacOS menu items etc

I still think Emacs with Emacspeak is a little more delightful to use than
Chromevox, but ChromeVox comes in closely because of the earcons.

I purchased an Acer ChromeBook last year. ChromeVox, the ChromeBook's screen
reader is basic. I played with it about four weeks ago, and it is still to
basic for anything but the simplest of web work. I cannot recommend the
ChromeBook for any blind person. It is still too limited.

Hi!
If one could get brltty to run under ChromeOs i maybe would like to try it but
i still do love my mac.
But since i don’t use any home automation yet i may be lucky for a while.

I agree with you. We just got an Amazon Fire Stick. The speech recognition is
good. Need to run it through a VPN router for Amazon Prime.
I saw a Dutch company which is doing interesting things with Android phone.
They have a ruggedized, shock-proof, dual SIM phone for around $400 USD.

Hey Scott,
If you haven't done so yet, I'd recommend taking a look at Chrome OS/Books.
The new rewrite, ChromeVox Next has the best performance, support, and
delight factors compared to legacy screen readers.

Yeah, the siri as you stated in an earlier message is far behind.
I have problems sometimes to make her understand me.
And today i did a search on youtube by voice.
It worked like a charm, i didn’t even had to change any language settings.
The swedish google seemd to understand my english

I think over the next year I’ll be diversifying a bit off of apple more on to
Google. I like what Google is doing now and think if they make a few key
changes their next phone could be a real power house. I’m going to stick with
my iPhones and Macs but I need to see Apple make some real
Hi Shawn.
Yes, I agree with you there. I also have goals rather than resolutions as then
you will stick to goals as these are what you really want to do, and are most
important to you.
Thinking about it, I prefer goals rather than resolutions.
Hope you get your new computer soon.

Well Mark, first off, I don't make resolutions, I make goals. The big goal I
have is to get a new Mac by the summer as this one probably won't be able to
run the next operating system. I teach a student on a weekly basis and I want
to be able to tell her what to expect in the new OS once it's
Mark,
For once, I like your resolution.
As for myself, although I don't believe in resolutions, like last year if any
new apple product comes out, I am going to get an honest opinion first and not
just rely on the company who will market their product as I will go for a

Hello Everyone,
I was just wondering if any of you have made any Apple related 2017 new year
resolutions?
As for me, my 2017 resolution is to (1), thank/acknowledge at least 1 app
developer per month for continuing to include VoiceOver accessibility in its
updates and (2), to lobby at least 1
