mac. Still I often come across a notation when searching for bookshare
books indicating that some works cannot be read in their web reader
program, but require another format be chosen.
My hope was to encourage
Bookshare Web Reader doesn't involve a download; the books are read on their
Web site directly.
An interesting alternative that I haven't tried is Thorium Reader, which can
access EPUB books. It's an Electron application that should work with VoiceOver.

However, I have heard that if you read XML renderings of the text, you get
important information such as accurate hardcopy page numbers, etc. Since I
will soon be using Bookshare content for graduate courses
Open the folder containing the various files. Select the one ending in .xml.
Edit it by changing xml to html. You will get a warning asking whether you are
certain you wish to do this. Choose html. After that, you should be fine.

Couldn't agree more. Students should come first when Bookshare thinks of
developing these programs, and, while Windows is pretty easy to develop on, Mac
surely can't be to difficult.
