Hi Jason,
Thanks for suggesting this. It seems to work. The hardest part for me right
now is remembering to use that gesture rather than trying to tap the dictate
button, but when I do, it does the trick.

Hi!
Yes that’s what’s happen for me too.
The only thing I can come up with is to just report things to the accessibility
team.

That reasoning makes sense, but it always worked for me up until iOS 16, so
something has changed that has made VO less able to distinguish between the
uses for that gesture.

Yes, this happens to me on occasion, where after dictating I do the magic tap
and my audio book starts playing. And yes, I need to go to the home page to
turn off the audio book there, in order to go back to the original app and stop
the dictation, or re-start as the case may be. Seems to have
Luckily, it only does that on my end on occasion, so I’m guessing it’s a bug or
a software glitch that can’t be easily fixed, since 1 gesture performs 2
different commands, so it would be like being in a room with 2 people with the
same name, and having both people answer you unless you call
That I haven’t seen, at least so far. (Fingers crossed)

You too? I’ve had that same glitch on my end, or if I’m playing a game that
requires the “magic tap” sometimes it will also trigger the music app, but the
catch22 is, it won’t turn it off unless I exit out of the game.

Oh, I’ve had that happen, too. It seems to happen a lot when I’m hanging up a
phone call. It hangs up, but also starts playing music. And I agree, it is
quite annoying.

Hi!
FOr me it ends dictation but starts the music at the same time.
Very annoying.

Good question. I’ve never used that gesture to accomplish that. I'll try it
and report back.

Hi Mary,
I’ve seen the problem you’re talking about, too. It’s very strange. Sometimes
dictation doesn’t stop, sometimes it stops and the message sends, and sometimes
it behaves correctly, which is why I wondered if it was a bug.

Hi Donna,
I have not seen that problem. I have seen the problem where after I dictate a
message and double tap to stop dictation, it doesn’t stop. Maybe it takes two
or three taps for it to stop. But I haven’t seen what you’re describing, thank
goodness!
Mary.

Hi all,
Ever since iO s 16, I’ve been experiencing an issue in the Messages app. When
I go to tap the dictation button to end dictating a message, instead of
dictation stopping, the message is automatically sent. This is frustrating,
because it’s resulted in messages being sent before I was
