I guess I'm looking at it as an equal access question. If I want a chat
communications app to be 'accessible' then it wasn't unreasonable to
download and configure Growl to make that happen. Not quite equal but
quite doable, like adding a screen reader. So do we cross some line when
a chat app
Even without self-voicing, I find apps like Adium and Skype quite accessible.
It might be less convenient but I wouldn't call it less accessible.

Hi: I have growl installed. In skype, it announces that there is an incoming
message but it doesn't speak anything about. Is it the case I am doing wrong
with any parameter?

Hi. I downloaded the new version of Growl but didn't notice any changes besides
the history thing. I still experience alerts not spoken automatically when
using the Nuance voices with Voice Over. I'm still having to press the control
key twice in order to hear them.

So I just had somebody ping me about upgrading to Lion and how they
would need to update Growl but now it was $2 instead of free. This got
me wondering. For many chat apps, or at least the ones I use often like
Skype, AIM and Adium, Growl is the common way to get incoming messages
read. If

that apple should just buy it and build it into the OS.
