Another reason I would never use POP on any mail server is, I like to filter all my inbound email into separate folders like one for each list I'm subscribed to. You *CANNOT* do this under pop. I use gmail's host based rules to do this and this way I get the same folder structure on all my

HI Janet, NO, if you use POP your mail won't sync between your devices. That's the huge advantage of IMAP, that it keeps your mail synced on all devices. So long as you have All Mail turned on in gmail settings on the server side, it seems gmail and Mail are now playing reasonably nicely with

The idea of using Pop on your iPhone and Mac is so all mail is downloaded locally and not managed on the server. You re-configure your mail account in settings on the iPhone and System Preferences on the mac. There is also an accounts option in Mail itself so you can do it there. E-mail
