Today I went to the brand-new Apple Store in our city just to play with the iPad. I expect to bwe getting one in a couple of days, and of course I am soooo excited!

I had some troubles, though. Once VoliceOver was turned on, it wasn't as easy as all that to do the double-taps for some reason to open apps. Flicking between the icon things on the screen wasn't as simple. I thought for some reason I could just move my finger around on the screen and VO would automatically tell me what was where, but for some reason that didn't seem to work as well. So here are some questions I came up with while playing with it.

1. Once I get VO turned on (probably will ask someone there to do it or get my husband to) how do I get to the practice gestures? I couldn't seem to find sEttings anywhere, except completely by accident, and when I was in there, I couldn't find the practice gestures to learn them.

2. Maps. How do I get Maps, and how useful will it be for me being totally blind and all?

3. iBooks. Biiiiiiig one, as I have the app on the computer just waiting to be synced, with some books all ready to go, so I want to figure how to get running with that right away. How do I find *that*? How do I make it read the book automatically? And is the iBookStore accewssible? easy to navigate and find stuff in? especially looking for free books for kids with pictures.

4. I thought I saw iPod and iTunes on there. Why are there both apps? What are the main differences?

5. Syncing. I want to be able to stync stuff, but only certain things, so will I have to go the way of playlists, or will I be able to tell it for some to do playlists, for others to do checked items only? How do I set that up?

6. Mail. I am using a Windows computer for the moment, and I use imap. Will that be just as easy to set up on the iPad so I can look at emails the same way?

7. Keyboarding text. I'm planning on getting the keyboard dock, but I don't plan to rely on that exclusively. Anywher eon the iPad where I can find a practice keyboard just to practice entering text, including capitalization, punctuation, and say, Spanish letters and numbers?

I think that's all of my questions. Thanks for your patience.

Jane
