Hi Chris, What your friend is talking about is the new standerd thaP Apple is now using called USB C. You basicly have a USB port that is used for charging. I do not have a MBP so can’t help you there, but if you google it, you will find information on this and I think a lot of computers

I've got the 2014 macbook pro 15 inch Chris and, the power pack and the bit you plug in isn't so very different from the old one. I'm sure you won't have any problems with the new one. It is a slightly different shape but tha one I have does still have the magnet. Cheers, Trevor

Currently, USBC is only in the new MacBook. This is a 12 inch display on a very thin and light computer. The keyboard is a little different. The USBC poart is the only port in the machine. It is most strongly built for wireless. It has the same speakers as the MacBook Pro 13, the newest of the
