I am not sure what I am doing wrong here, and it should be so simple,
so maybe I am missing something. I am trying to reinstall a previous
purchase from the mac app store, and when I go to purchases, the page
tells me I must sign in to the Mac App store to see my purchase. Ok

see viw Apple ID or sign on and then you can sign in there.
