Using JAWS, pressing the letter n will jump over html items like
links etc and take you to the next occurrence of text. Is there any
similar shortcut command in safari with quick NAV or by any other
method?

There are a few. For example holding control, option, and command and pressing
the letter H will jump by headings. Pressing L will do it by links. If you turn
on keyboard help and just play around a little bit you can discover a few other
ones.

I know all these standard shortcuts. what I'm looking to do is to skip
over a series of links and get to the text on a webpage in one motion.
kind of like a quick nag command that'll move to the next occurrence
of text.

Hi Phil,
Have you tried VO +command+p?
This should move you to the next section of plain text.
YOu can find all of these commands and more by pressing VO+h and exploring the
menus with your arrow keys.
The plain text shortcut is found by first locating the commands menu and
pressing right
