The solution I found is an app called Downie. Sure, it’s not free, but it does let you download videos directly to your Mac. The reason for the changes you noticed is that the court recently ordered a settlement in which youtube was involved. It has something to do with copy right violations

That URL could be different based on where you are. They have a content distribution network so if you were in Toronto you would hit a server up there rather than hauling data from SanFranciso. The main thing is to look for a row which has a very large size. That should be the video content.
