once it’s downloaded, you have to manipulate the disc image that’s in the apps
folder or it will “disappear” once it’s installed. I had two download errors
before the third time became a charm.

Hello Cameron,
I guess folk will have to take your word on it. I don't have snow leopard so it
doesn't affect me. However, there may be people who use this list as a resource
for accurate information. I haven't read anything within Mac World or on Apple
sites reporting the same. I would expect
Hey all. I’m having a little bit of a problem here. I want to create a bootable
installer for Mavericks now that I’ve updated it, but the problem is that the
darn thing won’t download. No matter how many times I click on the download
button in the purchases section, it won’t download it. It

Hello,
I guess you will have to wait until an update is produced. If you have tried
selecting Mavericks from your downloaded section of the app store.

Hi guys. I kinda figured out why Mavericks was free and that I can’t
re-download it to make a bootable version. I just got off the phone with a
gentleman of Apple and he stated to me that Mavericks isn’t an OS, but an
update. He’s gonna send an article about it to me through email and when he
I am a little bit confused… Not to be pedantic, but Mavericks is indeed a new
operating system. It is not an incremental update, such as going from 10.8.4 to
10.8.5; rather, it has a new major version number – 10.8 to 10.9. The fact that
it is free as a marketing choice. In the past, major
Hi,
I think that rep is very mistaken. I mean, would you call IOS 7 just an
update? That’s free too. Tell you what though, if it is just an update, it’s
the largest update I’ve ever seen at over 5GB. haha.

Hello,
Apple have changed the way in which these installers work. A simple web search
will tell you this. If the USB stick is Untitled and been formatted in Mac's OS
X format then in a terminal type:
sudo /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\

Hello,
Have you used spotlight to search for Mavericks? If it isn't in your
/Applications folder the app store will allow you to download it.
Press cmd + space and type Mavericks.

The terminal option only works in lion or mountain lion, not sl just
in case anybody was curious.

Hello Cameron,
Really, where did you read that? Have you looked to see what the command does?
All it does is to call a program within the installer itself, called create
install media and passes it some parameters. Such as where the USB stick is
located and no interaction? Does SL not mount
Yes, I am aware of what the command does. And regarding it not working
in sl, it was noted in the mac world series covering OSX Mavericks.

Hello,
If you mean you clicked the continue button after downloading, it may have been
moved from /Applications if you want to write it to disk you need to cancel the
install.
Look to see if you have /Applications/Install OS X Mavericks.app or something
similar.

Try and download the new version of disk maker, called DiskMaker X. It'll
actually prompt you to download the new version of OSX, and it will help create
the boot disk, if that's what you want to do.

So when you open the software update menu in the apple main menu, do you see
maverick listed as download? look in your purchase tab and see if it’s there.

Odd. I tried using DiskMaker X to make my boot disk and while it made the disk,
the disk doesn't show up in startup disk. So now I'm confused.
