Angus: I monitor this webspace for my blind granddaughter, Mandy Hall (see
YouTube). She limps because the left leg doesn’t work well. She plays the
full drum kit, bass guitar, piano and sings, even though she has only the use
of the index finger on the right and the thumb plus three on the
E.T.
I have tried to flick up or down and nothing happens. I have poor tactile and
motor control.

You were right. I was in VO prefs. Thanks for the tip. System speech still
seems a little anemic, but it's definitely better.

Donna,
Was that in the VoiceOver area or the Speech area of accessibility?
It sounds like you are talking about VoiceOver but you should be in the
Accessibility -> Voices area of system preferences.
Good Luck!

Hi, Tim,
That’s exactly what I did. But I didn’t seem to be able to change the rate on
the system voice. I could change it for the content voice, and I could change
which voice was used, but not for any of the other voices.
Cheers,
Donna

Hi,
Go in to System Prefs, Accessibility and select Speech from the table. You can
choose the voice and adjust the speaking rate here. I've actually made it so
that my System voice is different than my VO voice so that I am aware of who's
talking to me.

Fort McMurray,
Hi, all,
So my system voice is quite a big slower than my content voice, and frankly, it
sounds like she's about to keel over and have a heart attack. I've looked in
VO prefs, but am not finding a way to change the speech rate. Anyone know if
you can do this?
TIA,
Donna
