just purchased some new music that I wanted to take with me to New York.
Everything was great until I plugged the device
Hi Dave,
Reformatting is done in iTunes. I've never had my iPod settings
window completely disappear, but I'd guess this is like setting up the
new Nano 4G from scratch -- the area is reached by doing a VO-Right

In the nano fourth gen. you press down on the top and the bottom of
the wheel simultaniously for six seconds then wait about ten seconds
counting slowly and press the middle of the wheel. There is no audio
feedback for this. My husband did it last night when my Ipod crashed
and it turned
Hi Peggy,
It's actually the top and center of the wheel that you need to press
simultaneously. This is somewhat unintuitive, so I had to check the
manual again:
To reset iPod nano:
1 Toggle the Hold switch on and off (slide it to HOLD and then back

Hi,
Here is the official Apple way on at least the Nano 3rd and 4th
Generation.
1. Hold down the centre button and the Menu button which is on the
top for twenty-five seconds and wait 30 Seconds. This will not loose
any songs.
Thanks,
Alex,
