A friend of mine used a preconfigured Mac VM, and sound worked just fine. I don't know whether VMWare Tools was installed or not. If all else fails, you can simply use a preconfigure VM. I am not condoning or suggesting that anyone acquire one via illegal means, so let's not even go down that
