I’ve been using a Mac for a long time, and I don’t see how an older version of the Mac’s Mail app could be causing this issue. I would expect that a MacBook from 2011 should have been updated to at least High Sierra (macOS 10.13.x), so I would eliminate that as the cause of the issue, and look

I have had this problem as well. Even though I had my go daddy email account selected from the drop down box as the email address I was using my gmail address seemed to over ride that as I learned this when the emails being responded to were my personal gmail address and not my work go daddy
