Rather than open the thread, swipe down to expand. Double Tap. Swipe right and
you will see each individual message. find the one with the attachment and
double tap to open. When you want to close the thread, go to the beginning of
the group and swipe down until you see collaps thread.

I believe so but not sure. just go to view and then sort by thread. then choose
to expand or collapse the threads.
