When to quick nav, or not?

2018-11-22 Thread Matt Turner
Hi folks.
I’m just wondering when I should use quick nav?
I only turn it on, when I’m on the web.
Also, is there a way to copy the path of a folder? And how would I copy the
path, once I’ve found the folder.

Re: selecting noncontiguous items in a file folder

2018-11-22 Thread 'Tim Kilburn' via MacVisionaries
Hi,

Yes, When you open the folder, all you're doing is either expanding a
disclosure triangle, or opening the said folder in a new window. You will
still need to interact with the List table or the Column browser in order to do
the non-contiguous selection.

Re: clarification

2018-11-22 Thread 'Kristeen Hughes' via MacVisionaries
Once you are located in the folder containing the items:
Interact with the folder view by pressing VO+shift+down arrow.
Continue to hold down the vO keys as you use up and down arrows to scroll
through the list of items.
On each item you wish to select, press the command+enter keys and then release
them. You will hear the item added to your count of items selected. When done,
you can act on the items selected such as moving or copying, etc.

I hope this helps you.

Re: When to quick nav, or not?

2018-11-22 Thread Ryan Mann
I usually turn off Quick Nav when I am editing a document such as in Pages or
TextEdit. If I am just navigating through dialog boxes, I have it on. If you
wanted, you could just have it off all of the time and just use Control Option
and arrow keys to navigate.

Re: When to quick nav, or not?

2018-11-22 Thread Jonathan Cohn
For your second question, copy the folder and then if you paste it into
terminal it should paste the path. For some reason, I don't find the need to
copy a path as much on the Macintosh as I do on PC computers. I thought I had
pasted into plain text files in textedit to get the path also, but when I just
tried that, I only got the file name not the full path.

If this is something you do often, a AppleScript that gets the pasteboard and
then puts into a variable as text will help. I would not be surprised if you
could also do this with automator.
Best wishes,

Jonathan Cohn

Re: Homepod, was Not sure if this is off-topic it does concern Apple product

2018-11-22 Thread Anders Holmberg
Hi Tim!
That’s a very very good point.
I am at both apple’s and Android world.
Both OS have flaws and Issues but i can do much more easier on the Apple device
than i actually can on an android.
On the other hand Android can be changable to its maximum.
You can root the android devices (at your own risk).
But if you talk accessibility i’d say Android is not as accessible as the Apple
Devices.

You must Update your New Iphone Before Using? what about battery?

2018-11-22 Thread Ramy Moustafa
Hi all:

As i Mentioned, I have just got the Iphone 8+.
It has about 44% of it’s battery. so, when i put my Sim card on it, adn start
setting it up, it asked me that it should do the Ios 12 Update.
and the battery must be 50%
I knew that we should let the new batteries reached 0% before the 1st Charge,
so, now i must wait the Iphone to discharge by itself.
DO you have a solution for this?
Am very frustrated, because i can not use my Sim card.

ANy help?

Re: Messages on iPad

2018-11-22 Thread 'Tim Kilburn' via MacVisionaries
Hi,

The iPad puts things into two columns. The left column is the list of message
threads and the right is the list of messages pertaining to the selected
thread. So, VO-space, or double-tap, on the thread you wish to message in the
left and the thread of messages will be on the right. The edit field for the
thread is down at the bottom of the thread content.
