This happen to anyone else with an Airport Extreme?

2012-06-29 Thread Bill Holton
Hi.

Something happened again this morning I find very baffling. I have my HP
laser printer attached directly to my Extreme, and there are times when it
just won't print. I opened the Airport Utility on my iPhone, and without me
doing anything it started printing immediately. I would consider this a
coincidence if it hadn't happened exactly like this before. Also, often I
can be sitting about two feet from the Extreme with my phone and the phone
shows 3g and no wireless connection. If I open the settings menu and click
wireless the network shows up and lo and behold, the wireless is back.

Anyone have any thoughts?Bill

LookTel Recognizer update now out!

2012-06-29 Thread Cara Quinn
Hi all, there's a new update to the LookTel Recognizer now out in the iOS App
Store.

here's the linkie and a description for those whom might not know about it.

Enjoy!

Cara :)
---

http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/looktel-recognizer/id501088555?mt=8ls=1

Description
LookTel Recognizer allows users with visual impairments or blindness to
identify cans, packages, ID or credit cards, DVDs, and similar items. Users can
store images of objects in a library or database, and then simply point the
iPhone's camera at an object and the phone will recognize and describe the item
instantly. A barcode scanner is also included to provide additional labeling
help.

LookTel Recognizer is powered by an evolution of LookTel's patented and
proprietary object recognition technology featured in LookTel's Money Reader,
an app that has helped thousands of users with visual impairments or blindness
to instantly identify and count bills. There's no need to hold the camera still
or capture a photo and wait for a result – recognition happens instantly, and
in real-time. Additionally, the app does not require an active internet
connection, which means it can be used at any location, anytime.

Recognizer
allows users to backup and export their created databases via E-Mail, enabling
them to restore a database from lost or replaced devices, share it with other
members of the community.

Please note that users with severe visual
impairments or blindness will require sighted assistance to initially create
the image library. The image library must be setup before LookTel Recognizer
can be used to identify objects.

Using Recognizer
Once the app is downloaded
on your iOS device, you must create an image library before you can start
recognizing items. Creating the library is easy, and can be fun, especially if
you have a friend or family member who is a shutterbug. While it may seem to
take a lot of time, it takes far less than most people imagine to create an
excellent library of images. Once the library exists, less and less time is
required of a sighted person, as you will find Recognizer can already identify
most items that are used daily reliably and accurately every time.
...More
IPPLEX Web SiteLookTel Recognizer Support

Thank you for the suggestions.

Well, I think the typing over to the phone or Touch would be cool. Especially,
if I'm using a chat app I prefer, like IM+Pro.

Also, if the Mac's trackpad could be a wireless controller for the iDevice,
then I could control the device while it is docked on a player.

Needing help with Eloquent please

2012-06-29 Thread Johnny Angel!
Hi folks,

Sorry to be a little pesky about this, but I got no response when I asked for
help a week or so ago. I understand folks are busy, and I'm not taking the
lack of replies personally at all. You guys on this list have been very
helpful and gracious to me on a number of issues and questions I have asked
this fine group. I sincerely appreciate you all! So, I thought to take the
liberty to ask again for some understanding on how to efficiently navigate the
Eloquent Bible software.

Thanks for any help you can offer me,

Blessings,

Not of this world,

A new, powerful race, never seen before.

Wish to join?

Initiation is completely FREE!

NOTE: Limited time sensitive offer.

kknowledge u cant access tables and move between pages of documents.
Please can you give me any work arounds for these issues and same with

ABBYY fine reader

2012-06-29 Thread Kirsten Edmondson
Hi,

I have some JPG files on my computer, e-mailed to me by work. Obviously these
are inaccessible ordinarily, but I wondered if I open them on my Mac, through
fine reader, could I convert them?

Thanks.

Kirsten.

Re: Trying to recreate account as imap in Mail.

2012-06-29 Thread Steve Holmes
Yes, I got some stuff messed up a while back and since I'm a bit of a geeky guy
and occasionally live dangerously, I went and deleted the entire mail folder in
~/library. then started over and none of any previous junk was around. You
might try that if you dare. Personally, I did it from the terminal with the rm
command.

 Hi again!
Okay, found the choice. In the second screen of the dialog, I discovered that
VO wasn't landing in the start of the dialog. So lo and behold, I did
VO-left-arrow and there was the button which said pop. So I changed it to
imap. I then completed the account creation and all of my folders which I'd
created on my pop account were still there. None of the folders I've recently
created on the server show up except that second sent mail box. Is there a
place deep down where previous activities have been stored? Should I manually
remove all folders and rules before I remove the account to see if that
helps? Is there another setting in Lion that I don't know about in terms of
how it talks to the server? Thanks.

Yes, I am positive that the account supports imap as I have it running on my
PC now. Plus, it did sort of create an imap account and I know this because I
can send on my Mac in an imap account whereas I can not always send in pop
mail. It's a lion bug and this is one of the reasons I am trying to change.
But yes, a hundred per cent positive the account can do imap.

 Hi everyone!
Okay, I'm baffled. Thanks to the urging from many of you on this list, I'm
finally making the switch from pop mail to imap. Don't even ask about life
with Thunderbird on my Windows computer! sigh! Anyway, here's the Mac
question. Oh, I am running Lion on my MBA. So, I deleted my pop mail
account by hitting VO-space on the remove account button found in mail
preferences. I then closed Mail and just for good measure, rebooted the
 computer.
When I opened Mail, the welcome message appeared and it took me through the
questions. Trouble is, there was no question asking me whether I wanted
imap or pop. The first time I went all the way through the set up, it ended
up as imap, but all of my previous mailboxes, messages, rules and
signatures were still there. It didn't synchronize properly in that the new
folders I'd created on the server didn't appear and I ended up with two
sent folders. So I removed the account a second time and shut down the
computer again. But again, in the account creation dialogs, there was no
question about choosing imap or pop. Somehow I get the feeling it's not
really deleting what had been there and I'm ending up with a bit of a mess.
Any suggestions would sure be appreciated at this point.
After all, this was partly why I was supposed to join the 21st century and
switch to imap, so everything would just automatically appear on all
computers. Hmmm, as I said, all the wisdom here is so much appreciated.
I'll keep searching articles and such to see if I find some miraculous
 solution as well.
 Thanks again.

Re: ABBYY fine reader

2012-06-29 Thread Anne Robertson
Hello Kirsten,

Just place yourself on the JPG file you want to convert, press VO-Shift-m to
get a contextual menu, go down to Open with, go right and select ABBYY
FineReader and it will do the job.

Cheers,

Anne
