Re: Using Apple TV the fourth generation without a TV

2016-08-29 Thread Scott Granados
The reason to get an Apple TV 4th gen is to run the apps. Whether that’s the
various content apps, netflix or games any number of things that’s the deal
with the 4th gen, it’s all about the apps you install.

The HDMI port looks like a round cable with a computer type connector on each
end. They sort of look like over sized USB cables. The port fits in one way
and again slides in like a large USB port. You put one end in the apple TV and
the other in the matching port on the back of your Samsung.

Hope that helps.

Hi Tim.

I don’t know what one of those ports are or what they look like. If someone
has one of these Samsung TV’s could you tell me please which is the port for
the Apple TV forth Gen so that if I do get one eventually then I’ll be able to
use it. However, I’m not sure why one of these TV’s would benefit me apart
from playing my I phone content on my Samsung TV. I’m not in to netflicks or
any other subscription provider so would only want it for free content. At the
moment I don’t know why I’d want one of those TV’s, unless you want to play
your Itune content on it.

Thanks.

2016-08-29 Thread Tim Kilburn
Hi,

The Apple TV simply connects with an HDMI cable. Therefore, it should be no
problem plugging it into a Samsung or any other TV model for that matter as
long as it has HDMI input. It is extremely difficult to plug it into the
incorrect port on the back of the TV as the HDMI cable will only fit into the
HDMI port on the TV.

I can't tell for sure, but if you bring up the tools menu, there is a
language item. In that language item you can pick Dutch and you can select
that from the table and click default. I guess "hell" is a dutch word
since spell check then tried to change one of the words in "This is a
test." to "hell".

Have fun and enjoy life!

Abbey Fine Reader

2016-08-29 Thread Nancy Badger
Hi everyone,
Our IT services has installed Abbyy Fine Reader on my iMac at work. When I open
a PDF file by interacting with it in mail and choosing open with Fine Reader,
the only thing that is happening is that the save dialog in Fine Reaer is
opening. The choice for “open” is dimmed and so is almost everything else. I
can’t figure out what is going on. I can’t choose open, I can’t go to the usual
window that asks what I want to convert to, I can’t do anything except
selecting cancel. I have already opened the program, added the license number
and registered the program. Can anyone help me figure out what is happening?
Thanks

Nancy

Nearby Explorer does identify which side of the street the destination is
on if it can do so. There are some address schemes which do not make this

geocodes for things like points of interest.

I’d wager that your other GPS solution gets it wrong at least a couple

to answer your question/train of thought though, Nearby Explorer does

Re: MS Word and VoiceOver

2016-08-29 Thread Jeffrey Shockley

Hi,

Office 2011 isn't accessible on OS X using VoiceOver.

As far as Office 2016 goes, the accessibility is always improving. Word
works with VoiceOver. Now as far as how well it works, I'm not sure as I
haven't used it much to be honest. There is also accessibility in more
of the other Office programs in the suite as well. Once you have Office
2016 installed, open any of the programs, pull up the help file from the
"Help"menu I think it is, and search for "accessibility" to find more
info for the program you are using.

Hope this helps,

Jeffrey

MS Word and VoiceOver

2016-08-29 Thread becky knaub
Hi all,
Does MS office 2016 work well with VoiceOver? I have office 2011 at the moment
and it doesn't work very well with voiceover. To the point of it's not useful
at all. Is there anyway I can make word work better on my Mac? I'm not sure if
there are any kind of script or anything I can install? Thanks for the help.

2016-08-29 Thread Anouk Radix
Hi everyone,
I have a somewhat tricky question for you guys and I hope someone knows the
answer or can point me on hwere to find more info.
I have a 3 year old macbook air. In 2 years time I want to buy a new one.
I want to use windows 10 home with a legal license on it with bootcamp for work.
I am wondering though if I will be able to use that license on the NEW macbook
air in 2 years time if I delete windows from the old machine?
Thanks in advance for any info,

RE: text file editor for iOS?

2016-08-29 Thread Simon Fogarty
Hi Alex,
What about pages and then just save the files to dropbox as text files?

Pages comes free these days with the IOS os.

But there must be a text editer available in the app store.

Mail Signatures in iCloud a perplexing situation and extremely frustrating.

2016-08-29 Thread Kawal Gucukoglu
Hi.

I made a discovery but am very frustrated with it.

Using my I Mac, I created a signature (as you will have read) so no need for
detail. However, when using my Mac Mini which is on the same network as it’s
in my bed room upstairs, if I go to mail preferences all signatures, I can read
my signature which is in my all signatures tables. Please understand that in
the first instance I made sure the original signature was associated with my
iCloud account. But when going back in to the body of my new message, I can’t
select that signature even though the signature can be read in mail
preferences. Does anyone know why this is the case? I know you must select an
account for the signature to be associated with but my original signature is
associated with my I cloud account and I should not be able to read it with my
Mac Mini but I can. I hope this is making sense to someone.

Thank you.

Kawal.

RE: bootcamp win10 and sharpkeys?

2016-08-29 Thread Simon Fogarty
Boot camp is not a vm system,

Bootcamp sets up a dual boot so you can't run both at once you are either in
mac osx or windows 10,
If you wish to run both systems at one time and be able to flick between them
you will need to use a virtual machine environment such as vm ware fusion or
virtual box

Hope that helps.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

OK, I’ve had my interest piqued concerning “Express VPN.” But when I open “App

- VPN Shield
- Red VPN

Now, of course, I’m looking for a replacement for Avast on my Mac and not my
iPhone 6. Are either of the above what I want to install? Or, should I be
looking for something entirely different for my Mac?

Re: Using Apple TV the fourth generation without a TV

2016-08-29 Thread Kawal Gucukoglu
Can you play an apple TV for output to be sent to your Mac or Mac mini? I’d
get one when I could afford it if that is the case. I do have a Talking TV
(one of those Samsung talking TV’s) hence not getting an Apple TV. I would not
want to connect it to my Samsung TV as I would not know what socket to put it
in as if I went to the place where I bought it from (John Lewis) for all you UK
subscribers, I don’t think they would let me plug in an Apple TV in to one of
their Samsung models. Anyway the last time I went there to look at an Apple TV
it was sealed and they would not unseal it for me to have a feel of.
