Hi!
No windows needed for the Index embosser on the mac.
There’s built-in direct braille in that embosser so you only need to install a
driver and print from pages.

The SE isn’t using some of the current extensions Apple makes available that
the 7 uses for example. This accounts for the performance issues.

Re: Do Airpods Have a Delay?

2017-09-05 Thread Scott Granados
Hi, so it depends on the device you’re paired with. The AirPods and my iPhone
7 are very good, very respectably low amount of delay. My MacBook Pro has a
tiny bit more delay when paired but very usable. It’s orders of magnitude
better than typical bluetooth. The sound quality is also extremely good with
the AirPods. I’d go in that direction if making the call but maybe you can try
them out and decide first hand.

Good luck

Re: Accessibility of Fine Reader

2017-09-05 Thread Anne Robertson
Hello Mike,

The right arrow checkbox is on the first screen that appears when you open
FineReader. It’s just next to the table where you select the source (document
or scanner). The full set of options are in a scroll area.

Cheers,

Anne

Re: converting PDF to Word or HTML?

2017-09-05 Thread Karen Lewellen

Hi all,
As a reminder, regardless of platform, you can always use the robobraille
tools.

www.robobraille.org
the e-mail for pdf to things like html and rtf and word is
conv...@robobraille.org
the service also converts epub items and files to mobi.

Hope this helps,

Just appending to this message.

Thanks.

Kawal.

Hi.

I know a few people on the list has an Braille Index Embosser V5.

I just got mine today and would appreciate if someone could get in touch with
me.

I have the Index V5 connected to my WIFI network.

Now I'd like to know how I should connect the Index to my Mac please?

I want to use it with my WIFI and also be able to print with my I phone.

All I have is the old software supplied as far as braille stuff for the Mac.

Of course I'll go and e-mail the Index support team but if I could get someone
to help me with Voice Over then that would help.

Thanks a lot.

This will be for an iMac.

Re: converting PDF to Word or HTML?

2017-09-05 Thread Jürgen Fleger
Hi Alex,

one way is to send the pdf file to

conv...@robobraille.org

Write the desired file format (doc, rtf, pdf) in the subject field and send
just one attached pdf per e-mail.

All the best
Jürgen

converting PDF to Word or HTML?

2017-09-05 Thread Alex Hall
Hi all,
What's everyone's favorite way to convert PDF files to HTML, Word, or other
formats on the Mac? I have a friend with textbooks in PDF, but Preview isn't
doing a great job, to no one's surprise. I suggested converting the files, but
realized I'm not sure how. I so rarely need PDF access that when I do, I just
use Voice Dream on iOS and that works out well. Thanks for any suggestions.

RE: AirPods and the watch, how do you get them to work together?

2017-09-05 Thread Simon Fogarty
Hi Scott,

I'm running the IOS 11 PB on my phone and I now can get the pods to pair with
my watch which is running the latest current watch os version.as for the manual
pairing, yeah bit of a pain in the A butt I havne't figured out another way
that it can be done
I can only assume that switching between the Bluetooth devices will be some
kind of confusing for the pods,

I know it was stated that auto switching would be a key feature of the pods
but how do they decide which device watch or phone or ipad etc to switch to
when inserted in to the ear.

But I guess we wait and see what comes out in the next few weeks.

Subject: AirPods and the watch, how do you get them to work together?

Title pretty much sums it up but here’s a bit more. I have the AirPods paired
to my iPhone attached to iCloud, version 3.7.2 of the firmware installed. When
I go to to the watch and hit settings, bluetooth, airpods I get a failure to
connect message.
Also, is there a more elegant way of switching between devices. Apple
seems behind the times making the user manually connect. The regular
multipoint bluetooth automatically switches you to the active device with out
having to touch any settings. I’m figuring this is operator error on my part
so any pointers would be most appreciated.
Other than the switching devices issues, the pods are amazing.

Thanks.
