Re: How do I navigate in safari

2019-04-08 Thread Georgina Joyce
Hello Ann,

Yes that is what I thought. Hense my contention that VO+U is more powerful
because of being able to drill down to elements with specific characters.

Thanks,

Re: Can I erase the Daniel voice from my Mac with impugnity?

2019-04-08 Thread Michael Busboom
I would like to thank both of you for your feedback which, by the way, was
helpful.

I would have gotten back to you earlier, but after updating my MacBook to the
latest OS, I was surprised when I discovered that I was not receiving any
messages in my Gmail account. Apparently, lots of people who use Gmail had this
problem. Now that things are back to normal, I just wanted to thank you both
for your feedback.

Hello Gena,

I’m not sure I understand what you’re asking. When accessing the rotor using
VO-Cmd-Arrow keys, you can’t type anything. You just navigate through the
headings, links, etc.

VoiceOver saying Embedded with Apple Mail

2019-04-08 Thread Robert Carter
Hi,

When I read email on the Mac, I am using the default mail view. I use
option+control+j to jump between the messages list and the body of the message.
Recently, if the message is a reply to another message, VoiceOver adds a third
option to this VO+j sequence which VoiceOver calls “Embedded. I think it is the
quoted reply text but it means that VO+j cycles between these three items and
not just between the message list and the message body.

Does anybody know why this is happening and does anyone know how to get rid of
this “embedded item so that I can use VO+j to jump between just the message
list and message body?

Thanks,

Robert Carter

Hello Ann,

Thanks, I’ll try VO+I it sounds great. I must admit that I didn’t check but can
you use first second letter navigation when accessing the rota via the arrow
keys?

I guess I prefer to keep my fingers on the home keys but knowing more ways
offers greater opportunities for a variety of situations.

Thanks for all you do in sharing the knowledge.

EarPods Gen 2

2019-04-08 Thread Simon Fogarty
So the new Earpods arrived today,

So far they feel exactly the same as the 1st gen,
The requested engraving I requested doesn't' appear to be on the case, unless
they engraved and then put a coating of plastic over it.
For some reason the case feels somewhat more lower quality some how tinny and
not as strong as the first gen case.

Within 3 hours of unpacking the 50% battery charge in the case had dropped to
20% and I'd used them for less than 10 minutes for playing around

The connection to the phone is quicker when you put the pod in your ears than
my 1st gen pods,
The hey siri feature I must admit is great so far,
So easy to just ask the question
It's so easy to not have to tap the pod to get your request happening.

The sound quality seems better but as yet haven't tested both pair of pods
against each other,

Interesting being able to have 2 sets of pods paired to the same iPhone

The one thing I'm not sure I'm keen on though is when you put the wifi charging
case on a wireless charging pad,
There is no way to know if the pods are charging,my phone goes ding when on the
pad charging wirelessly,
If my pods are connected to a cable charging I can hold the case over the
phone and get charging related info

Other than the LED on the face of the case, how do we know the pods case is
charging?

Tomorrow I will put them through their paces while listening to music and not
to my boss,Metallica sounds so much better than managers

RE: booting in to recovery mode?

2019-04-08 Thread Simon Fogarty
The only way to go back to the original version of your OS is to find a copy of
the installer package and create a bootable installer USB flash drive and then
boot to it then use disk utility to eraise the current drive and install from
the flash drive.

Otherwise your going to install from the current version on your main
drive.you could also do the same kind of thing if you found an earlier version
of your current OS and again install that from your flash drive.

Subject: booting in to recovery mode?

Hi, I thought I'd tried to reinstall the version that came with my mac mini.
I've tried all the keys like, cmd+R, and cmd+Shift+option+R, but it seems to
want to use the internet recovery.
I can see and image that's 2 gigs, when I look at the drives in disc utilities.

Re: Silly Question

2019-04-08 Thread Anne Robertson
Hello Paul,

In VoiceOver Utility, under General, is the tickbox Allow VoiceOver to be
controlled with AppleScript ticked?
If not, none of the scripts executed by this kind of command will work.
Cheers,

Anne

Hi Anne,

I cannot get this to work as you describe, with keyboard commander activated. I
am using Mojave.

Best,

Paul
