Re: What happened to the status bar in iOS 13

2019-09-29 Thread Dave Carlson
Yep. Definitely a lot harder to find, now. iPhone 8 with iOS 13.1.
Installing 13.1.1 as I write. Getting to that status bar is a real pain, and I
use it a lot to determine Wi-Fi strength, battery charge level, and time of
day. Hope they fix that soon. Off to write to accessibil...@apple.com

You mightr have to enable it under the settings accessibility / voiceover rota
There is only some of the rota functions enabled by default.

So please tell me more about this vertical navigation option in the rotor? How
does it work and is it mainly for the phones without the home button or can we
use it on the 8 as well?

Now I really put the cat amongst the pigeons asking this question. I might give
slide to type another go one day. I think I only got frustrated with it as I
wasn’t expecting it and I couldn’t correct my text. I usually use dictation
while doing a text and then I correct it with the virtual keyboard if there are
any mistakes. Especially embarrassing ones. My wife did tell me about the slide
to type option, but I didn’t think it would be turned on by default.

Slide typing is a very sighted thing. It would allow sighted users to type even

Ah but my usual way of getting to the control panel was to do a three finger
swipe up from the bottom of the screen when I was focused on the status bar.
But I can find the status bar now by putting my finger on the top corner of
the screen and sliding down slowly. Even though I still have an 8 plus without

Where did my list of Siri shortcuts go?

2019-09-29 Thread Mary Otten
I updated my iPhone 7 Plus iOS 13.1 and then to 13.1.1. I wanted to go and see
my list of Siri shortcuts which migrated from 12.4. I open settings and then
found Siri and search. The shortcuts used to be in there. They aren’t anymore.
They still work, but where can I find the entire list? That same list used to
have suggestions based on apps you recently used, which is really why I was
looking for it. What happened to it?
Mary

Re: Typing on the iPhone

2019-09-29 Thread Petrus Tuerlings
Now I really put the cat amongst the pigeons asking this question. I might give
slide to type another go one day. I think I only got frustrated with it as I
wasn’t expecting it and I couldn’t correct my text. I usually use dictation
while doing a text and then I correct it with the virtual keyboard if there are
any mistakes. Especially embarrassing ones. My wife did tell me about the slide
to type option, but I didn’t think it would be turned on by default.

Re: Screen Curtin and Hardware Reset in iTunes

2019-09-29 Thread Angus MacKinnon
Tim

This Morning when my father came over to do a three finger tap to turn off
Screen Curtin since I have problems doing a three finger triple tap, my father
noticed doing a three finger triplee tap turned off VoiceOver and was not able
to get VoiceOver on until he went to Settings, Accessibility and turn on
VoiceOver. The problem started yesterday when I used Google Hangouts to make a
call and when the phone stopped ringing, VoiceOver was turned off. In my
attempts to turn off the Screen Curtin and get VoiceOver back via a Hard Reset,
911 was accidently called and VoiceOver had no problem speaking the Keypad. I
thought I had all Speech turned off in the Rotar.

Re: Status bar solution in iOS 13

2019-09-29 Thread 'Donna Goodin' via MacVisionaries
Hi Alia,

I have tried it from within Mail and from the home screen. It works
consistently, but you have to put your finger at the very very top of the
screen. Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Donna

the status screen is just much smaller. you have to start at the very top

the easiest to find, although everything is there.

Re: What happened to the status bar in iOS 13

2019-09-29 Thread Phil Halton
As I stated in an earlier post, one very good workaround is to go into control
center and swipe left past airplane mode. That kicks right into the status bar.
No fumbling around for it on the home screens, although I still find I can get
to it pretty easy from within most apps.

I just upgraded 13.1.1 and I find that I can still find the status bar within

can’t be accessed. however, I find the status bar is available within the

Hi,

Your fingers may be too close together. Either try them a little separated, or
hold one finger on your screen, then while that finger remains on the screen,
do a two-finger triple-tap. Same thing, just a different way of skinning the
cat.
