Actually, it sounds like the update he is receiving is from the AppStore, not
Software Update.
In this case, go to the Apple menu in the menu bar, down arrow to AppStore and
press enter. This will take you to the update section of the App Store.

Hi,
It’s always good to keep your apps from the App Store up to date. Yes, there
are very rare occasions when an update breaks accessibility or whatever, but in
99.9% of the app update actions, all will be fine, or better.

Fazil,
I recommend you go to system preferences / software updates.
There you can instruct to automatically update your apps and security and OS. I
believe it will be under the advanced area, and you may need to use Touch ID or
your password to enable those changes.

Woodworker,
Hi, Group.
For several days, Voiceover has been prompting me to update from the
AppStore and I am not sure what kinds of updates they are so I am ignoring
it.
Is it advisable to follow the update prompt regarding updates from the
AppStore and update it?
Thanks!

Okay, I figured it out. If you go into System Preferences and choose software
update there is a more info button.
Activating the button will show you a list of the proposed updates and they
have a checkbox so you can select which one you want to install.

Well I must admit, I’m now annoyed with this update. I just did it and it has

Hi all,
I have just been prompted to update my Mac with a supplemental Mojave update.
I usually install these right away, but there is also a Safari update (13)
which I do not want to install as they have deprecated WebSQL and I need it for
testing and building apps—for the moment anyway.
