Re: Nisus, Word, or pages?
Hi, Although pages is easier to use in many aspects, i do not like it and that’s for one reason and one reason alone: You can’t load a Word document into Pages, edit or modify it and then save directly to Word format again, oh no, you’ll have to ”export” it into Word. The only formats you can save directly into are Apples own and i think text .rtf and possibly .pdf as well. If Apple had done what Openoffice does and have Word as a format you could save to directly that would be ok, after all i think Openoffice has its own format as well, but alas no and that is a deal breaker for me. /Krister > 13 okt. 2015 kl. 03:43 skrev Christina C.: > > Ok, I apologize for my confusion, are you guys saying that you use pages? Re: Nisus, Word, or pages?
I don’t find exporting any more difficult than saving. I personally don’t know why Apple does not allow for saving as a Word file, but exporting isn’t an issue, unless I am missing something here. Re: Nisus, Word, or pages?
Personally, I do all my word processing in TextEdit, and then transfer that draft file into a pages document. I use the pages document to add features that are not available in TextEdit such as headers and footers, tables, and some formatting as well. I consider the TextEdit as the draft editor, and pages as a sort of "rapper", where I can add additional features not available elsewhere. This works out well for me. Re: Nisus, Word, or pages?
Hello Christina, I use Pages all the time and like it. I use all kinds of formatting, insert tables, text boxes and images. There are just a few accessibility problems, mostly to do with insufficient information available to VoiceOver. Hello Krister, Pages, and iWork in general, is Apple’s proprietory word processing format and it only saves into Pages format. All other formats require exporting. This is normal. Pages is not Word. Re: Nisus, Word, or pages?
Hi Anne, Openoffice has its own proprietary format as well, but it doesn’t force us to use it. It would be simple just to have the format menu in the save as dialog include word as well but it doesn’t and the result? if you don’t know what you do you’ll end up with 2 versions of the same document, one in Apples own format which you can edit direct but which no other word processor can do anything about and a word document which many word processors including Word of course, Openoffice, Libreoffice and possibly a few more can work with. > 13 okt. 2015 kl. 19:34 skrev Anne Robertson: > > Hello Krister, > > Pages, and iWork in general, is Apple’s proprietory word processing format > and it only saves into Pages format. Re: Nisus, Word, or pages?
Hi! I found that Word didn't seem to expose tables the same way Pages did. For instance, even though I'd see tables in the document body, I'd also see those tables outside of the document and I'd be able to work with them from there. That just confused me. I am not sure if this has been changed or not in Pages, since I am no longer using it. You can work with tables in Word just fine when I was using 2016, but both Pages and Word miss one important capability that I need. I can't jump to items included in a table of contents. VoiceOver sees them in either application, but I can't find any way to use them. As of yet, I personally don't find these apps efficient or productive enough to use them regularly, but that could either be because I just suck at using them, or because I need to change the group mode VoiceOver is using. Seeing all those items isn't necessarily efficient if you don't need to use them, and I feel that with VoiceOver they get in the way. Maybe the content chooser and window spots will be of great help here. Great costumer support is also hoped for. :) I also think it would be super to sync with my iDevices or also maybe even transfer to voice Dream Writer and then maybe back again into the word Processor of choice. I’d appreciate any advice or shared experiences. Thanks, Christina -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group. Re: Nisus, Word, or pages?
Ok, I apologize for my confusion, are you guys saying that you use pages? Or are you guys saying that you don’t like any of the solutions? I am hoping that I can learn one and stick with it. :) Christina -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "MacVisionaries" group. Re: Nisus, Word, or pages?
I personally use and like Pages, although I use Word under Windows for some tasks. Nisus, Word, or pages?
Hello, I would love some opinions about Word Processing on the Mac with Voice Over. I seem to remember hearing great stuff about Nisus some time back.
