Cool. Like I said, on Android, it's a nightmare! I'll most definitely give

I disagree.

I find tons of things from the app store. What're you looking for exactly?
True, there are some things that aren't there, but saying you can't get
anything at all hardly is incredibly an unfair statement.

Re: accessible media player app to play FLAC files

2015-11-24 Thread Sabahattin Gucukoglu
I think that’s fair. Developers just aren’t seeing any value in the Mac App
Store anymore and seem to be gradually transitioning away from it. Both
because of the sandboxing and pricing policies, it just isn’t a very good fit
for the Mac ecosystem as a whole. Good summary here:
http://www.cultofmac.com/300067/mac-app-store-broken-developers-sick/

And, after the recent certificate expiration fiasco, and Apple’s general
disrespect of the Mac, I’m just fine with that. It is a shame, and I don’t say
developers are not motivated by their own self-interest too, but I just don’t
bother looking there anymore. Downloads from the web are almost always more
recent.

The really interesting question now is: what would iOS look like, if it were an
open platform? Would Apple’s money-making scheme come undone, or would Apple
merely be proven right as developers raked their customers over the coals?

Subject: accessible media player app to play FLAC files

Hello folks,
The subject says it all. I am looking for an accessible mac app that lets
me play FLAC files. I have some on my mac that I need to listen to, but I
didn’t know iTunes doesn’t play those right off the bat without converting
them. Really would rather just listen to the FLAc files as they are.
Thanks,

Brian

I think it might even do OPUS.

You can't really get that much from the mac app store nowadays. I see this as a
definite plus. Google "VLC and you'll see the video LAN site. Its free, and
open source.
