Yes, I cleaned the port. As far as I can tell there is nothing blocking it.
The lightening connector looks normal to me..

Occurs to me that you may have either damaged the lightning port, or there is
debris in the port that is fooling your iPhone into thinking there is still a
headphone connected.
Have you been able to clean the port, or made sure that nothing has broken off
inside the port?

Hi,
Hmmm. Interesting. That should not be the case, but things don’t always work
as they’re supposed to.

Hi Tim,
Also, I have found that plugging in the phone results in VoiceOver always
reading the log on screen as I have it set to do that by default. When I turn
on the phone without plugging it in, VO may not start talking the first time,
it will the second time.
Best,
Les

Hi,
Try plugging it into a wall charger instead. The wall charger block has more
output and might kickstart the phone.

No, absolutely no Siri to speak of. It’s a brick. Now when I plug it into my
mac there is no response whatsoever. I am thinking about just leaving it for a
time, letting it drain the battery and replug it in tomorrow morning and see
what happens.
If it’s still like this I am going to try
What did you do to fix it? My phone is basically a brick now. I really didn’t
want to buy a whole new phone!
Thanks for any help!

Hi,
Does Siri respond in a way that you hear her?

that’s just it, I am getting absolutely no audible feedback! I’ve tried asking
siri to turn on vo, have triple clicked the home button, hit the up volume
button a bunch of times, etc, with no luck!
Argh!
Thanks,

I have experience situations when using my lightning connected headphones that
voiceover can get very very slow. Usually rebooting then plugging in the
headphones and unplugging headphones will reset this. Hopefully this is your
issue and you’ll find a quick resolution.

Just a couple other suggestions. Try turning VoiceOver on and off, and try
turning up the volume to make sure that it didn’t accidentally get turned down.
Good luck,
Donna

Hi Kate,
Did you try powering off your phone and restarting it? Perhaps that might clear
everything out and your phone will hopefully come back to normal.
