Tidbits.com who also publish the take control books, talked a little about ePub 
books on the Macintosh yesterday.  Apparently the iTunes store now allows 
purchases of books, and I believe they had two suggestions about reading those 
books on your non-IOS Apple device.

computer. You'll find bestsellers, new releases, full-colour illustrated books, 
books enhanced with audio and video and more — all on the iBookstore on iTunes.
Although it did mention the UK itunes at the bottom of the email!

Yeah tucked down at the bottom [when I heard it! ]
Ibooks 1.3 on your I devices will be needed!
So you can get them but you'll need your I pad or one of the others! :]

why you might think so, but he didn't mention that *exact* feature.

Don't know about reading on the mac.  If the files ae in pub format, and even 
if they're PDF, at least currently, they can't be read.  ICloud is just the 
storage device.  They wold have to make some major changes in iTunes to be able 
to erad them on the mac. imho
