Indeed, pointless is subjective. After all, we are more than
fortunate that both the blind and the sighted can use the same Apple
products out of the box.

Its only Day One but it looks like I may not need to wait for
10.12.1. Still will not be a rush job so maybe next month.

Actually, I think Sierra for VoiceOver has a lot of minor improvements that
make the OS a joy to use. Not to mention the faster speed. No complaints thus
far. It is far from pointless.

Also, while I wait, I sort of collect information on the new OS from

Diskmaker X which was just updated for Sierra.

Although waiting has it's benefits, the accessibility of an app like Abbyy Fine
Reader is not dependent on whether you have 10.12.0 or 10.12.1. It's up to the
app developer to fix accessibility issues and/or other compatibility concerns.
There are a few cases where the OS is the culprit, but the majority of the
time, it's the developer that needs to update.

Sorry, just a clarification.

ABBYY FineReaderPro not compatible with OS Sierra yet

2016-09-21 Thread Andrew Lamanche
Hi,

those of you who rely on OCR application ABBYY FineReaderPro to work or read,
please be aware that it is not yet compatible with Sierra, so you may choose
not to upgrade until ABBYY release an update. I've just asked them and as per
usual they cannot or will not commit themselves to when it might be.
