Re: Change AppleID in IOS 16.3.1
the iPhone in my experience does not like you switching apple ID’s. My recommendation is that you do a complete factory reset of the phone. You can add your friend to family sharing and then they can redownload any apps you recommend via the app history. They can either set up as a new phone or download from a backup if they want there apps. Otherwise, you can sign out of your apple ID in settings, but I don’t know if the apps you have downloaded will work or not which is why I recommend the family sharing. You might also be locked into that account for 90 days. > On Mar 19, 2023, at 16:41, Paul Hopewell wrote: > > Hello Herbie, > When you say “complete reset” what exactly do you mean? Change AppleID in IOS 16.3.1
Hello Herbie, When you say “complete reset” what exactly do you mean? The iPhone 8 contains lots of Apps and data which will be useful to my relative. For example my navigation and Books Apps and my list of contacts and my calendar. I do not want to reset the iPhone 8 to factory settings as I would then have to reload all these Apps and recreate all the data. That looks like a lot of work. So instead I have deleted sensitive Apps, my Email accounts, and sensitive Safari bookmarks. I now just want to ensure that my relative cannot tinker with my iCloud Drive files or purchase Apps on my credit card. That is why I want him to use his AppleID rather than my AppleID. I am rather unclear what types of reset are possible and whether I can achieve the above. Many thanks … Paul Hopewell -- The following information is important for all members of the Mac Visionaries list. Do a complete reset and then they can sign in from the welcome screen. > On Mar 19, 2023, at 12:40, Paul Hopewell wrote: > > Hello, > I have an iPhone 8 running IOS 16.3.1 which is currently associated with my > AppleID. Change AppleID in IOS 16.3.1
Hello, I have an iPhone 8 running IOS 16.3.1 which is currently associated with my AppleID. It is my backup iPhone for use if my iPhone SE 2020 stops working. I now plan to loan my iPhone 8 to a relative, who is visiting from France, for a few months. I thus want to change the AppleID for this phone from my AppleID to my relative’s AppleID. Alas I cannot figure out how to do this. I recall that in the past I could sign out from one AppleID and then sign on to a different AppleID but this does not seem possible in IOS 16.3.1. Note that I have iCloud Drive associated with my own AppleID and I use that to share files between my iMac and my iPhone SE 2020. I also used to share the iCloud Drive with my iPhone 8. Many thanks for any help. Best regards … Paul Hopewell -- The following information is important for all members of the Mac Visionaries list.
