Re: Moving Apps

I, too, will perform such reboots. In this case, it did not solve
the issue. When I do a double tap on the edit home screen button while
focused on the app in question, focus jumps to the first item on the
page. I never get the edit menu.

to delete apps with the remote, find the app you want to delete, hold down the
track pad, it will say moving, after that, it will say hit play for more
options, hit the play button, and select delete and confirm.

Re: moving apps on i phone under I OS 8

2014-10-09 Thread Tim Kilburn
Hi,

The answer is yes and no. I think that there's an issue with the placement of
apps and their ability to be moved with VO. At least for me, items in the
fifth row don't like to be moved with the VO gestures. Try the same gesture in
the fourth row and it works. My work around so far is to move something from
the fourth to the fifth which will consequently move the first item on the
fifth row up to the fourth row. Do that enough times and the item you wish to
manipulate should end up in the fourth row and you should then be able to do
something with it in your regular VO way.

HTH.

moving apps on i phone under I OS 8

2014-10-09 Thread Caitlyn Furness
Hi,
I was trying to move an app for my husband today on his i phone 5s which is
running I OS 8.

Does the double tap and hold, then slide the app where you want not work any
longer? This is what I tried and the app stubbornly stayed in place, despite
my efforts to shift it!

How do we move things now?
Thanks,
Caitlyn

Question about moving apps to the dock on iOS

2014-03-12 Thread christopher hallsworth
Hi all
I experimented moving MBraille and Fleksy Vo to the dock. While I could do
this, I observed that I first had to move them to page 1 before I could move
them to the dock? Am I doing something wrong here? Asking as this doesn't sound
right to me. The experiment was done on the iPad mini running 7.1.
Any comments greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Sarai,

YOu should be able to move them from page to page as you do with the IPhone.
I'm not sure of the solution for you but I've been able to manage it fine. I'll
grab my IPad later this morning and see if anything has changed on it that
won't allow me to move apps.

Good luck,

Hi Mary:
One more thought: Since the doc on page one is expandable, you may not have to
move something out of that page's doc to make room. But, I have to check that
idea further.

I don't know if this will be helpful or not. But, I've found it impossible to
mmove apps to differing pages in the same manner as on the iPhone. What you
can do, however, is move the app into the dock. Go to whichever yage you want
it on,and move it into the regular grid.

Re: moving apps on an IPad

2011-01-17 Thread Esther
Hi Mary,

The default apps that come with the iPad show up on the first page, and I think
that if you buy new apps they may show up on the second page with iOS 4.2 (on
both the iPad and other iDevices). However, I haven't had any problems putting
apps onto the first page of my iPad. With the iPad you should be able to put 6
apps into the dock -- which is more than the default configuration has. So
what happens if you move an app from page 2 into the dock, and then switch to
page 1 and move it up from the dock?

This sounds like you'll have fun, although you might have some regrets when the
announcement for the second generation iPad comes out! Oh, and for you as a
language buff, download the "iTranslate - free Translator" by Sonico GmbH,
which is only for the iPad:

http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/itranslate-free-translator/id397730127?mt=8

There are included voices to speak the text (original or translated) for
English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, Chinese,
Japanese, and Korean. These are the Loquendo voices. The Russian voice is the
female voice (Olga, not Dmitry), but quite good. There's no counterpart to the
iPad version on the iPhone or iPod Touch, and the iPad version doesn't have the
current bug for the iTranslate and iTranslate Pro apps on the iPhone and iPod
Touch, where the language isn't announced on the picker wheel as you move it,
but can only be checked when you move back to the main page.

Cheers,

Esther

Hi Donna,

I've used methods one and two from your message, resorting to the method 2
involving the dock as a last resort, because it is kind of a hastle. We'll have
to try that on the IPad. and thanks for the additional method for moving apps
to a new page. I've found that the regular method for dragging off the page
sometimes works and sometimes doesn't, but I was surprised when my sighted
partner had the problem. I gather there is a way you can use ITunes to move
apps around if you can see and mentioned that to him, but he didn't try it yet,
and of course, since it isn't accessible, its of no use to me.

Re: moving apps on an IPad

2011-01-17 Thread Donna Goodin
Hi Mary,

I've been wrestling with this same issue on my iPod Touch over the last 24
hours, and may have some answers for you. These tips are all VO-based.

Method 1: Double-Tap and hold on the app you want to move. Keep your finger
there till you hear the iPad say "Moving X" where X is the name of your app.
Then drag your finger slowly to the edge of the screen, as though you want to
pull the app off the screen. To go forward a page, pull the app to the right,
to go backward, pull it to the left. You should hear VO chirp, which is your
indication that you've moved the app to another page. Then press the home key
to get back to the normal screen.

Now, I've found that this works wonderfully for moving around the same page,
but often not so well for moving from page to page. So here are methods 2 and
3, method 3 compliments of Apple Accessibility.

Method 2:
Clear out one position in the dock. Then move the app to the dock, scroll to
the page where you want the app, and then move the app out of the dock onto the
new page. Sounds convoluted, but so far it has proven to be the easiest and
fastest method

Method 3: Quoted from a message from Apple Accessibility:
"One thing to keep in mind is that to change pages, it does require that the
app go off screen to the left or right. If you find that you have your finger
to the far edge of the display and do not hear VoiceOver indicate you have
changed pages.:

Lift your finger to drop the app at the current position, you would want to
make sure that you are not on a folder, then single finger double tap and hold
on the opposite side of the screen.
You should hear VoiceOver say “Moving Photos” and then drag your finger to the
opposite side of the screen.
This should pick up the app again and move it far enough off screen that you
will change pages.

When you are finished remember to press the Home button to exit edit mode."

I hope one of these is helpful to you.
Best,
Donna

Re: Moving apps on iPod Touch using the Mac

2010-07-08 Thread Thuy
Hi David. I spent ages trying to move apps around and into folders
etc, and it is doable on the iphone/ipod. It's quite easy to move an
app by one slot either way in order to drop it into a folder or create
a folder from two apps being superimposed. The way I deal with moving
apps and folders is to shunt them onto a separate page so that they
are the only 2 items on that page, then once I have all the apps that
I need in the required folder, I can shift the entire folder onto an
earlier page. Bear in mind that it will place the apps in the order in
which you slot them into the folders. It's also easy if you only have
one or two items on a page just to throw the app back out of the
folder if you make a mistake. So if I want to order apps
alphabetically, I just go into the folder and find the app I want,
chuck it out of the folder, and place it back inside it again. That
way, I know it's going to be the most recently added app in the list
inside the folder. Hope this helps?

Cheers

Thuy

If you use the same apple i.d. for your iPhone and touch when you add an app
to the second device a dialogue box appears telling you that you have
already installed the app and therefore it would be free.

As far as your map question goes, you'll have to hope that someone who used
voice-over can help you out.
