Re: Alarm Bug in IOS 10.0.1

2016-09-21 Thread Christopher-Mark Gilland
I happen to use ducking, as well as Airplay. I hate ducking on OSX, but on
iOS, it's a Godsend in my opinion. I've never had this effect the alarm
though, ever. Not in 9, nor in 10, and trust me, I ran the private developer
seeds of 9 all the way from the WWDC date release up to the very last day a
week or so ago before 10 was released. I also on another device have ran 10
since the WWDC announce date this year in June and have been updating every
seed and now have the official non beta release installed. So, if this is
truly a ducking thing, then it's not effecting me with Airplay, nor with the
alarm, and never has. Go figure.

Re: Alarm Bug in IOS 10.0.1

2016-09-20 Thread Jeff Berwick
Okay, so it looks like something is going on that should be reported. I was
not part of the beta, so I don’t have the beta app to report bugs. Is this
something that should be reported to accessibil...@apple.com
, or is there a better place for this?

Thx,
Jeff

I have the same problem. Voiceover is extremely loud but the alarm is pretty
soft. Luckily I am an extremely light sleeper so I don't have any problems.
Just wish voiceover wasn't so loud.

I’m having the same issue.
Very soft alarm no matter what sound it’s set to, and once the alarm
starts voiceover is super loud till the alarm is acted on.

Re: Alarm Bug in IOS 10.0.1

2016-09-19 Thread Christopher-Mark Gilland
I can't reproduce this either on an IPhone 6S, an IPhone 6, an IPhone 6+,
nor an IPad Pro 12 inch. Come to think of it, I even tried on my mom's IPad
Air first generation, and wasn't able to reproduce there either.

Are you sure that you haven't possibly accidentally gone under
Settings>Sound and somehow set your default alarm tone to "None?" It's
unlikely, I agree, but I'd still check, just in case.

I do not have that problem on my ipod touch 6th gen with ios 10.01.
Perhaps it is something with the phone?

Re: Alarm Bug in IOS 10.0.1

2016-09-19 Thread Jeff Berwick
I appreciate your thorough testing. I only have my one iPhone :( , and have
run several tests. The last test I ran seemed to be better, so here is hoping
that tomorrow morning I wake up on time. :)

Basically, what was happening for me in my tests was that the alarm would turn
on, then voiceover would say “Alarm” really loud and then the music was
non-existent. I wonder if this has anything to do with me using a custom alarm
noise instead of the standard alarm sounds.

Anyway, let’s hope all is good.

Thanks,
Jeff

RE: Alarm Bug in IOS 10.0.1

2016-09-19 Thread M. Taylor
Jeff,

Try as I may, I could not reproduce your findings.

I ran over 10 tests using 4 iPhones running iOS 10.01. I have enough vision to
use iPhone, for extremely short periods of time, without VoiceOver so was able
to perform simultaneous tests comparing the native Clock app volume levels. I
ran the tests using 2 iPHone 6 Plus devices, an iPhone 5 S, and an iPhone 6 S
Plus. One of the phones was purchased from A T & T Wireless, one from Verizon
Wireless, one from Sprint, and one from T-Mobile.

In each test, the volume level of the Alarm, was consistent, regardless of
whether VoiceOver was enabled or disabled.

Just so you know, I tested with the Mute button enabled/disabled, and also
tested with the Do not Disturb feature enabled/disabled.

In all of my tests, the devices were set to alarm at the same time so it was
very easy for me to compare volume levels.

Finally, it should be noted that I rebooted these devices several times and ran
tests without rebooting them. In every scenario I setup, the Clock Alarm
performed just as expected, either with or without VoiceOver.

I really tried my best to locate your bug but, as far as I can tell, it does
not exist; at least, not that I could detect.

Happy Hunting,

Mark

No alarm heard here.
Maybe somebody needs to work harder on basics in the accessibility playground
and drop the superfluous fluff, such as Mail headings telling blind listers
that a selected message comes from a mail list. Maybe blind can't tell that a
mail message comes from a mail list that they signed on to; or use alarms for
anything as important as full time employment. L

Re: Alarm Bug in IOS 10.0.1

2016-09-19 Thread Mary Otten
That business about mail list is not for just blind people. It's there for
everybody. And it is there to make it easy to unsubscribe from things. Have you
ever tried to unsubscribe from a mail list and had to dig through bunches of
pages once you got to the website that they sent YouTube to unsubscribe? If so,
you wouldn't regard this as fluff. Just saying.

Re: Alarm Bug in IOS 10.0.1

2016-09-19 Thread Rachel Feinberg
The alarm does seem to be a lot quieter since iOS 10 came around. If you're
testing with the beta app, find the Feedback app and activate it. You'll have a
chance to title your report, choose which category your report falls under,
like accessibility, and so on. Then, you'll have a place to write out the bug
and how they can reproduce it.
Thanks,
Rachel.

Interesting. I just had an alarm this morning and it worked fine. But it was
from the Bedtime tab, not alarm, though I’d think it’d work the same way.
