Re: What VPN service are people using?

2024-06-17 Thread 'Donna Goodin' via MacVisionaries
That’s not a bad price at all.

I’ve been hesitant to use a VPN, ever since I had to use one for work back in
2008. It was a royal pain, and half the time it didn’t work. But everyone’s
responses are really getting me interested in giving it another try. I don’t
think I’ll try and sort it out from Italy, though. First, I don’t want to
spend my vacation setting up a VPN. 😊 Second, since I’m new to the game, I’d
rather do it at my leisure, when I have more time to sort things out. So, I
won’t be Abel to use it as I was hoping--to access the Italian iTunes Store—but
I would still rather wait and do it when I get home.

Anyway, thanks all for the input. It’s good to know that there seem to be
quite a few accessible options.
Cheers,
Donna

I use surf shark here. Same deal: supports 5 devices, can be installed or
configured on the router, available for all devices (apple and android or

It definitely masks your IP and routes you through a different service. I was
trying it out once and a TV site was giving me greif about my location. Figured
out what happened as I was experimenting with the iCloud Relay at the time.

Re: What VPN service are people using?

It definitely masks your IP and routes you through a different service. I was
trying it out once and a TV site was giving me greif about my location. Figured
out what happened as I was experimenting with the iCloud Relay at the time.

Completely agree, Brad. This is one I haven’t heard of. Thanks for the
recommendation. I will check it out.

Re: What VPN service are people using?

2024-06-16 Thread Brad Snyder
I use Encrypt.me VPN.
It's not free, but I would never recommend anyone use a free VPN service.
If you're not paying for a VPN service, then your data is the product and it is
being harvested and sold for profit, which in my opinion defeats the purpose of
a VPN.

2024-06-16 Thread 'Donna Goodin' via MacVisionaries
Thanks, Anders. That’s actually the one I was looking at. Given the cost, I
think I’ll do a bit more research to make sure it will resolve the issue, but
thanks for letting me know that it works well.
Cheers,
Donna

Re: What VPN service are people using?

2024-06-16 Thread Michael Irons
Hi there everyone you might want to give some thought to using a VPN when you
go abroad. My dad’s wife made a trip to China last year and it turned out when
she got to China. They inspected everybody’s iPhones to see what apps they were
using, and when she heard about the inspection, she had to take the VPN app off
her phone. She wanted to be able to check her email outside of China while she
was there. It turns out because of what the Chinese were doing. She was not
able to do that and she could not respond to my email until she got back home.
That was very sad.
