Re: Theme Question: How Do You Use Your Apple Watch?

2019-05-20 Thread 'Donna Goodin' via MacVisionaries
Hi Mark,

It's a great app - super easy to use. I use it for lots of different things,
not the least of which is that I've started taking audio snapshots of people
and events. A good friend of mine passed away a couple of years ago. She
lived in Spain, so I hadn't seen her for several years before she died, and I
realized that the only snippet of her I had were our What's app exchanges. I
don't see well enough to make use of video, so I finally decided that there was
no reason to mess with that. So I've started using Just record to record
snippets of sound that I want to be able to re-visit. I've now got a folder
which I call Gallery of Voices that contains voice-shots of family, friends, a
couple of Christmases, and so on.

Just thought I'd share, because I've really enjoyed having these mementos, and
thought others on the list might also want to do this.

Cheers,
Donna

RE: Theme Question: How Do You Use Your Apple Watch?

2019-05-20 Thread Simon Fogarty
Hi Mark,

It's well worth the money I paid for it.

And on your watch it saves via the phone to your iCloud drive account.

I've not tried it without my phone in area of connection but assume it works
locally until the phone is in range.

Possibly you can do things different if your watch is a cellular model

Good luck and hope you enjoy.

Happy to add to this one.

I've got a watch face setup with 8 different complications on it Just press

To be able to record meetings with just press record while on the go or check
my activity and send or reply to messages with out needing my phone in my hand
is great.

The apple series 4 watch is fantastic,

2019-05-19 Thread M. Taylor
Hello Donna,

I completely agree with you regarding the turn-by-turn hap tic feedback that
the watch provides.

Not long ago, for whatever reason, I left my watch at home. I was attempting
to navigate, via Apple Maps, and I just couldn't get it right because I missed
that hap tic feedback. I kept telling the driver to turn much too late because
I found myself waiting for that feedback. (big smile). It is truly amazing
how quickly one can become used to a certain type of technology.

Still Smiling,

Mark

Hi all,

My answers would be:
1. The Work-out app
2. Activity, monitoring calories burned, flights climbed, steps, stand hours 3.
Texting with Siri and dictation 4. Checking the weather in the morning 5.
Monitoring heart rate 6. the little ping it gives you when you need to turn
when using Maps. A small detail, but my husband and I recently moved to a new
city. We don't know our way around all that well, so I--with help from
Maps--am often the navigator. We both love that little ping on the wrist.

Honorable mention: Phone calls. I don't do this often, but when I have it's
been very handy.

Sorry, I know that's more than three. But technically, items 1, 2, and 5 could
be combined under fitness ...
Cheers,
Donna

RE: Theme Question: How Do You Use Your Apple Watch?

2019-05-18 Thread Simon Fogarty
Hi Mark,

Happy to add to this one.

I've got a watch face setup with 8 different complications on it
 Just press record,
Outlook calendar,
Activities with steps Kilojoules used, and standing times,
Messaging, and email are the ones I use constantly through the day I've still
got spotify and HR monitor on the watch which are less use but still available.

To be able to record meetings with just press record while on the go or check
my activity and send or reply to messages with out needing my phone in my hand
is great.

The apple series 4 watch is fantastic,

Subject: Theme Question: How Do You Use Your Apple Watch?

Hello Everyone,

As I have recently approved several new people to the group, I thought it might
be helpful if they could discover how many of us use our various apple devices.

So, my question: Other than telling the time, what are the top three ways you
use your Apple watch?

As for me they are:

1.
Checking the hourly weather forecast.

2.
As a pedometer.

3.
Using the timer feature, with Siri.

Honorable Mention:
Quickly scrolling through turn-by-turn directions when navigating a route via
Apple Maps.

I look forward to your replies,

Mark

Re: Theme Question: How Do You Use Your Apple Watch?

2019-05-18 Thread 'Donna Goodin' via MacVisionaries
Hi all,

My answers would be:
1. The Work-out app
2. Activity, monitoring calories burned, flights climbed, steps, stand hours
3. Texting with Siri and dictation
4. Checking the weather in the morning
5. Monitoring heart rate
6. the little ping it gives you when you need to turn when using Maps. A small
detail, but my husband and I recently moved to a new city. We don't know our
way around all that well, so I--with help from Maps--am often the navigator.
We both love that little ping on the wrist.

Honorable mention: Phone calls. I don't do this often, but when I have it's
been very handy.

Sorry, I know that's more than three. But technically, items 1, 2, and 5 could
be combined under fitness ...
Cheers,
Donna
