Your friend could try AniceSoft EPUB Converter.app that converts epub format
to a number of other formats, one of them being rtf. The application, which I
got in 2014, still works on the latest operating system. It's fairly
accessible apart from the radio buttons which correspond to the vario
Thanks! Downloaded it. It worked on the ePub book I have, so I’ll see if my
friend can open his textbook in it if there’s no file protection issues.

Hi,
Granted I cannot be certain this will work because of copyright. Still,
robobraille,
www.robobraille.org
will convert epub books into things like rtf which might? be accessed from
another program.
Because the conversion is supported by educational institutions, his

You’ll need to use the VoiceOver navigation commands to successfully
navigate books in iBooks. The regular arrows don’t work effectively.
The application, iText Express will read EPUB books as well.,

I have a friend who needs to read his ePub textbooks on the mac. Two
Questions about this:
1. I know ePub books read in iBooks, but I’m finding navigating the text
clunky. The up and down arrows go from page to page, it seems, and not line
by line, so I’m having to use the trackpad rotor on
Hello Scott,
Thank you for that information. Have you tried reading DRM-protected epub files
with iText Express?

Hi Anne.
As I'm a fairly new Mac user, and do most of my reading through
iBooks, I have very limited experience with iText Express using
braille. However, from the few files I used it with, it seemed to
respond fine to my Braille Edge 40.

Hi,
If you mean can I read it with the arrow keys, then yes, I can. I think the
braille display works in it, as well. It's free if you want to try looking it
up in the Mac app store.
I remember that the inability to move around in the document with VoiceOver is
what stopped me from getting A
Hello Brianna,
Does iText Express allow you to navigate within the page using VO and a Braille
display? If so, it's an improvement on Adobe Digital Editions which is the one
I use.

Hi,
I use iText Express. It reads me Nook books, and they are ePub format.

Hi all,
Can anyone recommend an accessible, and preferably free application
for reading books in epub format on the Mac?

Thanks,

What an interesting solution.

Hello all,
I was looking for a program on me mac to read epub-files.
I found the (I think/hope
) free app: itext express.
With this app, I am able to open the epub-files so , that's fine.
The epub-file that I was opening with text express, has some bookmarks in it.
