Re: difficulties working with attachments

2018-04-11 Thread Ian Harrison
Hi. I hope this helps. I have both El Capitan and High Sierra
computers. El Capitan seems to still work as expected. When I save attachments
I go to File then down to save attachment. Then a dialog box pops up allowing
me to choose where to save.

In High Sierra what appears to happen is that when I click on the menu to save
an attachment a finder window comes up rather than a dialog box. I then have to
navigate through the finder windows to pick the folder I want to save in.
Although voice over does not tell me, I then clicked on enter/return and I
could then see the attachment in that folder.

I usually do it this way as I am not much good at selecting within the email
and then right clicking.

I could be wrong, but try the above workflow and see what happens.

Re: difficulties working with attachments

2018-04-06 Thread Jonathan Cohn
Sorry, not running with HS here at work, but with EC but there is a menu
available either right after the DELETE / REPLY / Reply All / Forward or else
as the very last item in the Header section of the e-mail message. It is a
button menu with the name as the number of attachments in the mail message.

Also, at least in 10.3 and earlier, attached documents that are in mail
messages were stored in ~/Library/Mail Downloads now when I look through
~/Library/Mail/v3 there is a folder for each mail account with a
folderName.mobx folder under that folder and then a folder with each message
inside of that which does have downloaded attachments in it. Though I would
expect that only pdf and inline graphics would be in that folder by default and
that other attachments might be only stored on the server until requested.
Again, I am viewing on my El Capitan system so some information might have
changed.

Re: difficulties working with attachments

2018-04-06 Thread Tim Kilburn
Hi,

On occasion, I've had the Mail app not bring up the Save dialog right away. In
some cases, I believe that it was just a VO focus thing, and in other cases, I
just had to repeat the request. That is, if it was a focus thing, cmd-tab out
of Mail then cmd-tab back in and the dialog should be present, or simply repeat
the File menu and Save Attachment request and the dialog should appear.
Alternatively, the newest iteration of Mail is awkward when navigating through
some messages. Either use QuickNav or arrows without the VO keys until you
locate the attachment. Once located, you can then press VO-space and the
proper menu may appear. As Alex mentioned, if you are getting the menu choices
you outlined, then VO focus is not on the proper item in the message area.

Later...

Hi Alex,
Thank you for your response. However, accessing the save attachments from the

select that option, the menu disappears and I am brought back to my message in

Re: difficulties working with attachments

2018-04-06 Thread Alex Hall
It sounds like VO isn't focused on the attachment. Also, remember that
attachments may not appear at the end of messages. Some mail clients, including
the default ones on macOS and iOS, will embed attachments wherever the author
wants them.

Because of this, and because of the focus you're running into, I tend to use
the file menu instead. If you go to that menu while on a message, there's an
option to save attachments. Select this, choose a folder as you would for
saving a file in any other app, and you're done. This menu item has no keyboard
shortcut, but you can assign one if you want to.

difficulties working with attachments

2018-04-06 Thread aliFaisal
Hello everyone,
I am having lot of issues being able to open or save attachments on the latest
build of hi sera. Normally what I’ve been doing is going to the bottom of the
message, option ctrl m on the attachment and it will allow me to open or save
it that way. However, lately, the only options I am seeing when manipulating
attachments is copy and speech sub menu. There does not appear to be a way for
me to open or save it.
Am I missing anything?,
