Hi, Performance results comparing the UI performance between gtk+ 2.8 and gtk+ 2.6 on the 770 have been published in maemo.org: http://maemo.org/community/gtk_vs.html
In short, gtk+ 2.8 is slower than gtk+ 2.6 and using soft floats would help.
