Hard to guess without any details posted but you might try to make it
directly on the device if you already got the initfs flashing script
with mtd-utils.
sudo gainroot
#copy initfs
mkdir -p mnt
mount -t jffs2 -o ro /dev/mtdblock3 mnt

I installed the patched binary file on Wed and since have not had a
single crash from the browser, media player or claws-mail.
Coincidence? I hope not. It was pretty rare to make it through a day
without a browser crash previous.

Obviously, didn't run wlan-cal; now it works perfectly. Thanks :)
Any hint on what I'm doing wrong on the initfs ?

Did you remember to run wlan-cal after loading cx3110x

Hello,
Thanks for your time.
the modified cx3110x driver works ok. I think it's a bit weird that my
WRT router would assign different IP addresses depending on the driver
loaded, but it's not an inconvenience after all.
However I run into a bit of trouble trying to modify the initfs. I
took out

Hi,
this is a very common problem with N770 crashing installer.
Maemo.org has no solution to our problem.
I called it maemo virus at tablettalk as it is distributed with/by resources.
The only proposed solution at this list and at tablettalk was to reflash your
maemo.
The problem is N770 is no mo
You're right, I finished now reading the bug. I'll try the replace first ,
and then reflash the tablet with a new initfs.

Or just replace cx3110x.ko in /mnt/initfs/lib/modules/current/ with
quick fix attached to the bug

What version of the mplayer have you installed? I'd like to test it.
Mistral version worked fine when I tested last time with hacker.
I agree with Frantisek with possible problem.

Well, first I was suspecting an off-by-2 (if that exists) somewhere in code,
since to ^@ is indeed 0 (and I thought of some error in a C program). It was
more interesting since the error bytes would come in pairs and would replace
the same letters "l " (ending of the word "install ", but in differe

Ahything random can happen with wi-fi connected 770 due to this

It doesn't matter which system (2006 or 200HE) you use.
BTW this problem can be caused by any other bug too, but since ^@ l
Hello,
I found last night evidence of data corruption on my N770. Specifically,
after the Application manager refused to install mplayer, I tried to install
from command line; the dpkg complained of invalid Status: value in
/var/lib/dpkg/status ; and I looked this file only to find 4 characters
