Re: Announcement for maemo Eclipse Integration version 0.9 (Beta)

2008-02-29 Thread Andrea Grandi
Hi,

it's 4.0.1 not 4.0.2

it's the version I find with the Eclipse version you suggest on ESbox
plugin website.

Do I have to check for any updates?

 Hi,
can you check if the version of CDT plugin you are using is 4.0.2?

  Thanks

And of course you should provide that error log together with your

You should use version 4.0.2
the website points to this version.
Could you please send me the exact link where you found reference to
cdt 4.0.1? Maybe we forgot to update it somewhere.

That looks pretty nice... will test soonish. In the mean time, a couple
of comments:

First, I can't help commenting on the Pluthon and Esbox websites. Ajax
may have its place, but breaking the back button on a normal web page is
a big no-no in my books (just try the top menus).

Second, I've been meaning to file a bug report on maemo-pc-connectivity
for a couple of days, but didn't know where [1]. Is there a bugzilla
component or a garage project?

And third, here's the bug:

Maemo PC Connectivity components can be installed from maemo extras
repository. e.g. install maemo-pc-connectivity version 0.1 package to
 the Internet Tablet.

Your package does not comply with packaging guidelines, specifically the
the part about Section-fields [2] and so is part of the problem that
makes Application Manager categories unusable [3]. I suggest changing
the current section (user/devel) to something that is in line with the
guidelines.

Note that I'm not saying we don't need a development category. I'm
saying you should propose new categories on the list before using them.

Thanks,
  Jussi

1: apologies if I actually have filed this somewehere already. I've

RE: Announcement for maemo Eclipse Integration version 0.9 (Beta)

2008-02-26 Thread Jarmo.Tikka
Hi,

Thanks a lot about the comments. I try to answer some of them below.

First, I can't help commenting on the Pluthon and Esbox
websites. Ajax may have its place, but breaking the back
button on a normal web page is a big no-no in my books (just
try the top menus).

I noticed that also (pressed top menues and wanted to go back to
previous page by pressing back button but noticed that back
Button left the whole home page).

We will see if something can be done for this. I anyhow like
Those tabs from where you can choose the visible content. This is
nowadays common functionality for example with browsers but it may be
too much to have several layers of tabs (in browser AND on page).

Second, I've been meaning to file a bug report on
maemo-pc-connectivity for a couple of days, but didn't know
where [1]. Is there a bugzilla component or a garage project?

We do not have maemo bugzilla components for ESBox, Pluthon or
Pc-connectivity beta versions. Bug reports can be sent to this
mail address ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) or for ESBox and
Pluthon directly to the garage projects.

For final we have to change the content of maemo-pc-connectivity
package to be true meta package. Now it includes USB configuration
tool but that will be a separate project and installation package
in garage. I think we do not yet have that configuration tool
project set up in garage so send your bug reports to
[EMAIL PROTECTED]

And third, here's the bug:

Maemo PC Connectivity components can be installed from maemo extras
 repository. e.g. install maemo-pc-connectivity version 0.1
package to
 the Internet Tablet.

Your package does not comply with packaging guidelines,
specifically the the part about Section-fields [2] and so is

(user/devel) to something that is in line with the guidelines.

Note that I'm not saying we don't need a development
category. I'm saying you should propose new categories on the
list before using them.

We did not plan to create new category. This is a bug that needs
to be fixed to the final release.

Announcement for maemo Eclipse Integration version 0.9 (Beta)

2008-02-25 Thread Jarmo.Tikka

ANNOUNCEMENT

Release Information
===
Project:Maemo Eclipse Integration
Version:0.9 (Beta)
Baseline: maemo 4.0 Chinook SDK
Date: 2008-02-26

Maemo team is happy to announce beta release of maemo Eclipse
Integration. This
beta version has been released to get feedback from maemo community
before final
release. We hope that together with maemo community we will be able to
have good
(on functionality and quality point of view) final 1.0 release available
very
soon.

Possible feedback can be sent to [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Maemo Eclipse Integration supports maemo 4.0 Chinook SDK release and
both N800
and N810 Internet Tablet devices.

Maemo Eclipse Integration includes following three parts:
1. maemo PC Connectivity version 0.1 (Beta)
2. maemo ESBox plugin for Eclipse IDE version 1.3.6 (Beta)
3. maemo Pluthon plugin for Eclipse IDE version 0.1.7 (Beta)

===
1. maemo PC connectivity v0.1 (Beta)

Maemo PC connectivity packages are tools and other components developer
needs to
install into his Internet Tablet to enable connectivity between
developer PC and
Internet Tablet. This first beta release of maemo PC connectivity
includes very
basics e.g. mainly just components needed for setting up USB networking
with
ssh. Next version (planned to be released on March) will include more
functionality to enable, for example, disk mounts between Internet
Tablet and
PC.

Maemo PC Connectivity components can be installed from maemo extras
repository.
e.g. install maemo-pc-connectivity version 0.1 package to the Internet
Tablet.
Notice that you need to manually configure USB networking on host PC
side.
Instructions how to do that can be found from following how-to Setting
up USB
Networking
http://maemo.org/development/documentation/how-tos/4-x/setting_up_usb_ne
tworking

===
2. maemo ESBox plugin for Eclipse IDE v1.3.6 (Beta)

Maemo ESBox plugin for Eclipse IDE integrates maemo SDK Scratchbox based

development environment to the Eclipse development environment. ESBox
plugin
supports application developers using C, C++ or Python programming
language.
Developers are able to do all their development work inside Eclipse,
from
starting the project using template to packaging final application into
maemo
installation package.

Maemo ESBox plugin can be installed from maemo garage
http://esbox.garage.maemo.org/ using standard Eclipse plugin
installation.

===
3. maemo Pluthon plugin for Eclipse IDE v0.1.7 (Beta)

Maemo Pluthon plugin for Eclipse IDE integrates Eclipse IDE development
environment to the Internet Tablet so that maemo Python developers do
not need
to use maemo SDK and Scratchbox as development environment. Maemo
Pluthon plugin
fully supports application development process with Python where
developer
develops and tests his Python application directly with Internet Tablet.

Maemo Pluthon plugin can be installed from maemo garage
http://pluthon.garage.maemo.org/ using standard Eclipse plugin
installation.
