It makes a big difference. Especially if you have Jabber presence on,
but I would assume that it also helps while browsing.

HI Martin,
can you give me just a little bit more of info on this problem with Canola?
(video that you played, etc)
As you're saying, the it2007 on the 770 is a lot better than the 2006, we
would like to fix any incovenience like this for the users of canola in the
770 that install the IT2007.

I don't have the 770 with me now, so the details have to wait until
tomorrow. I'll try with several differently encoded videos.

And the quest continues...
Updating: Last week I finally found an US citizen who could buy the N800 and
ship it to my friend in Norden, California. But there was a little problem
with the credit card (again!) and the order fail. So I called Nokia to
cancel the order e everything went ok.
Now that

I'm not a maemo user yet, but a prospective maemo user.
I have several questions, which I'll ask in separate messages.
Is it possible to use a USB keyboard with the Nokis N770 or N800?

I'm not (yet) a maemo user, but a prospective one.
Does the software development environment actually run on the Nokis 770
or 800, or is it necessary to cross-compile from another Linux machine
(such as one of my my Debian etch PCs)

Yes. I use a portable stowaway with excellent results. Others use the
Nokia Bluetooth keyboard. The main difference between the two is the fifth
row for the stowaway and, I believe, dedicated keys on the Nokia keyboard.

Neither the 770 or n800 support USB host mode out-of-box. For the 770[1],
you can use a USB hub and power injector to get working USB support for USB
devices. I don't believe this is possible for the n800... at least not yet.
The keyboard Nick is talking about is a bluetooth keyboard. There is

I just had a trip to Frankfurt for my company and took the N800 with me. I
used it to map the road and a colleague used it to browse the web for a

All,
when I go to the application tab of maemo to install The Python 2.5
Runtime it fails with a message that 4 application packages are missing:
libglade2-0, libsdl-ttf2.0-0,libsdl-ttf2.0-0, and libgdbm3. Why the
second and third app appear with the same exact name is somewhat
puzzling, but
since updating to v3 it has not worked for me either... I went the
manual route (and was chastised here for it) but by enabling Red Pill
mode it worked. I think the terminal apt-get method would also work
as you can specify the individual files you need.

were you downloading maps on the go over cellular or had you cached in advance?
I find Maemo (or perhaps my GPS) seems to think I am moving at times
when I am sitting still -- like at my desk. With tracks on, I can see
my location float a bit... otherwise, it's a very cool program.

Hi John,
It seems you don't have the maemo repository in your application

Distribution: bora
Components: free non-free
You can check these packages are present there in the following
