All, fyi. While doing some shopping at Amazon.com I came across the following new App for the Iphone: http://www.amazon.com/gp/feature.html?docId=1000291661 I wonder if it can find/read bar codes in the images? It would seem that Amazon would have no problem with an open source version

Jonathan, I would guess that the value of apps like shopsavvy is going to grow only as fast as the number of items in the barcode database. It also appears that the developer of the CompareEverywhere (formerly Andriod Scan) app is working on enhancements to that app as well:
