I encountered the same problem with my Nokia bt keyboard and the N800.
Took something like 20 tries to get past the authentication, but I was
eventually successful. Note that I only used 4 characters of my own
choosing. Definitely seemed to be a timing issue.

I encountered that error a few times too... Sorry, I forgot to mention
that. Sounds like our experiences are identical-- I just hope you get
the best of it like I did.

Nice info Eric, thanks.
Open question to N800 program folks: what is so wrong about providing more
communications to the community about updates? Lot of owners being very
patient about Skype and OS releases, but irritated about the silence. Can't we
at least provide SOMEthing to them???
I want free or cheap WiFi to be as highly available as my GSM service.
Then I can chuck my phone and live on my N800. ; )

Yeah, I know. But MuniFi is growing. Just not fast enough!

I don't know about Dallas offhand either. I live closer to Fort Worth,
where my brother is a city employee and tells me the city is paranoid
about WiFi. Figures.

I reluctantly gave up on Gizmo because I couldn't get it to work on my
PC, laptop or N800. Odd, because I've had no problems with GoogleTalk,
GAIM, etc. I'm hoping Skype comes out soon so I can give it a shot.

The biggest one that comes to mind was the inability to login. I was
successful a couple of times on my laptop, zero times on PC and N800.
That randomness and inconsistency was puzzling. In the same environments
(I tested 2), why was the laptop the only one that could successfully
log in? And at
That's helpful information! And yeah, I'm well aware of the typical
need to completely reboot the N800 after some app installations,
especially where communications and network access clients are
concerned. Given what you just told me, I might give Gizmo another
shot. Thanks!

hey, Antonio, that's a really interesting idea! I'd love to see this
put into use...

Yeah, I'm surprised the option was not put in another location, such as
the wifi icon. I always forget it's accessed via the tablet's power
button... and I helped launch the crazy thing! I blame advancing age.

Not to mention that the manual is loaded in PDF form to the device (in

You reminded me of something. Verizon guys came over last week to hook
up a new fiber optic based internet/phone/TV system to my house (very
nice, very fast). When they were done the PC couldn't immediately
connect to the new router and when I was unable to reset the IP I
realized I needed to
I sat down for supper one night in CiCi's pizza (a chain in the US) and
wondered if they had wifi. They sure did, and protected by a 5-charcter
password only. On a lark, I entered cicis-- got me right in. But,
yeah, I drive around sometimes with my N800 beside me periodically
looking for access
Now I see why it's so hard to engage my Finnish guests in small talk!
They are very patient with my madness, though (Hi Antti, if you're on
this list). ; )
