Yes, but that's by using default port 5900 and the maemo VNC Viewer
available here:

That works fine.
But Clarence's suggestion was to use http access from a web browser.
That uses port 5800 to download a Java client to the browser.

I've successfully worked with my Linux laptop located in Spain, when I was

to Berlin, so that I travelled with my small 770.

I love VNC but the http access (default port 5800) won't work if you are
trying to view from an Internet Tablet because there's no Java on the
tablets.

Sorry, I should have been clearer - my company only allows traffic out
through an HTTP proxy - as far as I know you can't VNC through HTTP without
using some additional tools (I have used httptunnel before as well as
fireproxy).

David,
The /usr/bin/vncserver from the vnc-server package for every vnc session
created, in addition to open the 5900 + session_number port, it'll create the
5800 + session_number port which then you can access with a web browser (Ex:
http://hostname:5801), then it'll pop-up a java app with you

It's pretty obscure, but I found this on the above website:

I haven't found a VNC server that can tunnel over HTTP and my office only
allows HTTP traffic out so I can't connect on the normal VNC port (not to
mention that logmein allows me to not have to worry about port forwarding
and provides an easy interface to see which machines are up).

I have been using LogMeIn for quite a while but last time I tried it didn't
work from the Internet Tablet. I just tried again and can now get in but
there are issues with scrolling - still not quite there in my opinion.

Why not just use any VNC server that provides http access? You don't
need any sort of proprietary service.
(sorry for the duplicate, David)

The Remote Desktop app works just fine if you have a bluetooth keyboard.
The new Apple BT keyboard works flawlessly with the N800, btw.
