If you don't want to use the normal Facebook site you can also try
 these more mobile-friendly versions:

 http://touch.facebook.com/
 http://m.facebook.com/

Or you could attempt to download and install the Garnet OS VM for
Maemo (latest is beta5 dated December 2009, I think) from the access
software web page and then install the Facebook client for Palm OS on
the N900... see how /if it works. :)

(I donĀ“t have a N900 to test, just a N800).

Perhaps you're confusing the Facebook Widget and the Facebook Widget
Installer. (Same for Amazon, AP news etc). Just uninstall the
installer versions and those icons will go away from your menu.

Right however I already install it yet it keeps showing up. I thought it was a
facebook client but is just an update to the widget I already have. So it
doesnt make much sence.

Re: Facebook app is just a commercial after update

2010-01-12 Thread Timo Pelkonen

So question, is there a facebook app or is it just the widget?
Maybe I can go to uninstall and remove the add and then the real app
will show up (althought I doubt it).
Maybe I should google at maemo repo and learn what really is out there.

I would love to have a facebook app that allow me to upload my camera pics.

You allready have app that allows uploading of pics if you have installed
the facebook app (with installer or from HAM, doesn't matter)

are you familiar how media sharing is done with N900? I suggest you look at
user manual.

Ok I see that this tweaks the image app and enhace it with facebook on

wonder if there is a way to extend the conversations Chat to also
allow Facebook buddies. Pidgin for linux has this extension but the
library is not builted for N900.

http://code.google.com/p/pidgin-facebookchat/

Would be good to get it ported to the N900 pidgin. I would report the
bug except garage doesn't seem to have a page for N900's Pidgin.

Facebook app is just a commercial after update

2010-01-11 Thread Kahlil Johnson
Hi today I got this update on my maemo that included Maemo 5 and some
facebook stuff. However one of the installed was actually just an
icons that send me to the app manager. This is kind of silly since I
already have the facebook widget installed. I install it because I
thought it was an actual app, it shows as an app menu but in the end
is just a way to try to get it from the app manager.

Please let me know if anyone had that similar issue.
I guess I can just select and uinstall it exacept I am not sure I can
take it off since is not really an app.
