[Mahara-contributors] [Bug 723210] Re: mahara.org wiki documentation needs to be updated for 1.3 and 1.4

2011-02-23 Thread Stacey Walker
I do think some organisation into sections is necessary, especially if
we end up retaining any of the 1.2 based documentation and how long for
etc (likewise for 1.3 when further versions come out). Though I
understand about the desire to keep the documentation minimal in size.

From 1.2 to 1.3 there were at least the introductions of Plans and Collections
From 1.3 to 1.4 there are a significant amount of UI and terminology changes
From 1.4 to 1.5 etc there could be any number of changes - skins vs themes for
one? (unless that is in 1.4)

Perhaps just having an archive somewhere of previous versions would be
good.

Though, I see from the backlog that the wiki is to be migrated to
mediawiki so we could do the versions by way of adding categories and
that'd reduce the number of page double ups where things haven't changed
between versions?

I'm definitely willing to help out with documentation if we can come up
with an agreed plan.

Title:
mahara.org wiki documentation needs to be updated for 1.3 and 1.4

Status in Mahara ePortfolio:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
Mahara wiki content needs an overhaul to bring it into line with 1.3
  and 1.4 versions.

A lot of the existing 'User Guide' content doesn't seem to have been
updated since ~2008 and it'd be good to separate the information out
on the wiki into the two versions, much like how Moodle has gone about
  1.9 vs 2.0 documentation.

Roadmap could also do with some structure and collation so information
can be easily seen when new 1.5 roadmap specification items are added
under a separate section. It might be a good idea to try and avoid
having wishlist items there anyway and keep those discussions on
forums and here in launchpad before moving to the wiki as official
  design specifications/roadmap when ready.

  Ideas:
  - Roadmap - 1.3/1.4 - items/details - specification (if available;
removing wishlist)
  - User Guides - 1.3/1.4 - Dashboard/Content/Porfolio etc
  - Site Administration Guides - 1.3/1.4 - General/Groups/Users/Institutions
etc
  - Institution Administration Guides - 1.3/1.4 -

Themes - has the design of this changed much between versions?
System Adminstration Guide - is it worth separating this out for ease of
finding information? does it vary much?
Language Packs - already has version availability table
Plugins - shall we create versions here too and plugin maintainers can add
information when/if a plugin is upgraded for new versions? Or copy somewhat the
way that Language packs are currently maintaining supported versions?

Some of the content might not change that much between versions but it
might be worth separating that out now while we can to future proof
for bigger version differences in those areas.

I have only been looking at the English documenation. :)

[Mahara-contributors] [Bug 723210] Re: mahara.org wiki documentation needs to be updated for 1.3 and 1.4

2011-02-23 Thread François Marier
In terms of how long we keep documentation around, I think we can say
that we only have documentation for supported versions. So that would
currently be 1.2 and 1.3. Once 1.4 is released, we'll be dropping
support for 1.2. So we can probably focus on 1.3/1.4 and ignore 1.2.

I'm not against labelling sections / paragraphs (or even pages in the
case of a page what would talk about a 1.3 only feature for example) to
let people know what version it refers to. However I'd like to avoid
having two parallel versions of the documentation because it's likely to
end into two versions that are out of sync and have duplicated info.

I can't get the send_content_ready function to work, it's failing to
get the token or any properties from the class. I've tried with a
custom PluginImportCustom class and the PluginImportLeap class.
  Neither work.

I've tracked it down and it appears to be a problem with the get
function on the PluginImport class (in import/lib.php). The call to
property_exists is failing, even though if you remove the error
handling and just return the property it is returning the correct
value. I think this is because the properties are declared as private,
  when they should be protected.

This is in Mahara version 1.2.5 (2009111015), using PHP version
5.3.2-1ubuntu4.2. It does look as though the behaviour of
property_exists has changed in PHP version 5.3, so this may be
relevant. I'm running on Ubuntu Lucid Lynx with a MySQL database. I'm
trying to call the send_content_ready call from a custom function
  within Moodle 1.9.9.

[Mahara-contributors] [Bug 724060] [NEW] Set default LDAP version to 3

2011-02-23 Thread François Marier
Public bug reported:

From Bug #650678:

We should also set the default LDAP version to '3' in the configuration
settings page.

Some LDAP servers refuse v2 connections by default (e.g., OpenLDAP 2.x
and later) and using v3 makes the server use utf8 both in the queries
and the responses (unless the server is really broken).

Setting the default to v3 would ensure that nobody forgets to select v3
and gets a broken setup that works most of the time (but not always).

Saludos.

  Mahara 1.4 dev version

When creating / editing a group forum, some mandatory settings are
hidden in Settings. Not making settings visible immediately suggests
that you don't have to click on them if you want to leave the default
settings. However, as Automatically subscribe users is a mandatory
field though it is a checkbox, the user is taken back to the edit
screen after submitting his forum creation / editing. That should not
  happen.

I would not make Automaticall subscribe users a mandatory field in
the way it is at the moment with only one checkbox as it has to be
chosen. Thus, there is no choice.

Furthermore, I would put any mandatory fields that need to be reviewed
  on the first screen.

The mandatory fields Order and Who can create topics behave
differently from Automatically subscribe users as they already have
a default setting chosen. Thus, they could actually become not
mandatory fields and stay in Settings.

Bug description:
ssl key generation is dependent on finding the openssl.cnf key on the
OS. When installing Mahara on RHEL/Unbreakable Linux the name/value
of opensslcnf/'/etc/pki/tls/openssl.cnf' does not get set in the
'config' table of the database. The prevents the key generation
needed for extra-site networking. It is possible that on other linux
variants the file can be found without this but not on this
combination. This value does get set on a moodle 1.9 install which

Bug description:
I am currently using Mahara 1.3.0rc. When the Entire Resume block
is dragged into a view, the Personal Information (that is filled out
on the Cover Letter page) is pulled into the view even if there is no
information in the fields. I'm guessing that this happens only if
Save is selected for that region on the Cover Letter page. It is
not dependent on whether there is information in the cover letter
field or not. There is no way to unsave it later.

  To clarify:

-in the cover letter/resume area of My Profile: if an individual
selects the Save button underneath Personal Information, those
fields will automatically be added to a view whenever the Entire
Resume block is added, even if there is no information in any of
those fields. It appears that there is no way to unsave that
  information.

pChart is a PHP framework that will help you to create anti-aliased

  PDFs.

pChart is released under two licensing models. If your application is

I'm aware that the roadmap for 1.4 mentions resizing images on the fly

resize images when they are uploaded as this would avoid using too
much of a user's quota. The way I envisage this is that the site
administrator sets a maximum size and any image larger than this is
automatically resized. Perhaps also there could be a checkbox when
uploading to override this, in the rare case that an image needs to be
  full-resolution.

I propose the following (see attached mockup):

  1. make the Pages Collections column the first one and then have access
list and edit access
  2. move the number of secret URLs closer to the edit button
  3. substitute the pencil button for the key button for the secret URL for
consistency; besides: a secret URL can only be generated and not edited; I
think the key would be more appropriate as it shows access

También, por otro lado, los del iphone si se animan, siempre y cuando les
demos la certeza de que si se puede. Me enseñaron un par de aplicaciones
