[Mahara-contributors] [Bug 1750948] [NEW] latest nodejs breaks mahara

2018-02-21 Thread Rebecca Blundell
Public bug reported:

I discovered when helping set up a Mahara dev instance that it breaks
mahara if you follow this wiki instruction to install the latest version
of nodejs:

Note: The Node packages that come with the default installation may be
outdated and not new enough for Mahara. You may need to install a later
version of Node because Node 0.10 is not enough. You can find various
instructions on how to upgrade NodeJS on your distribution depending on
your preference on package manager

The latest version is 8.9. We had to downgrade to version 6.x to make it
work again.

  When testing https://bugs.launchpad.net/mahara/+bug/1706536 I noticed
  there was a problem on the page settings form where skin title was not
  being escaped.

  To test:
  1) Set up a skin with the title:

  It's all alert(1);good!

  2a) If the patch for bug 1706536 is in play it should show the title as
inputed but not execute the js
  2b) If the patch for bug 1706536 is not present it should show the title with
special characters escaped but not execute the js

  3) Go to pages and collections and edit a page
  4) Click on settings

  You get an alert box with '1' in it

  The title for the skin needs to be escaped/made safe

  No comment modification notification for group view

Status in Mahara:
  Fix Released

  Following on from  https://bugs.launchpad.net/mahara/+bug/1171310

  The patch mentioned there does not allow for group administrators to
  be alerted when a comment is modified from private to public with
  activate comments & comment moderation turned on for the page

  To test:
  get patch from https://bugs.launchpad.net/mahara/+bug/1171310 (if not already
merged into master)

  1. Create a Group and make a page for it - take note of the url for the page
  2. Make the page accessible to the public, and activate comments & comment
moderation for the page (this is all under the Sharing tab)
  3. Log in as a user not in the group and go to the page
  4. Place a comment on the Page, making sure to untick the "Make public" box
so that the comment is private.
  5. Click the "edit" icon next to the newly created comment.
  6. On the edit page, tick the "Make public" box, and click Save.

Title:
  Add a button to a page allowing to download it in Leap2A format

Status in Mahara:
  Fix Committed

Bug description:
  Suggestion from Shane Nuessler:

  It would be nice if a Mahara page could have a button for users to download
the page as Leap2A file. This could be a setting in the "Allow copying" section
and a second option to not only allow copying but copying as Leap2A.

  Further thinking:
  We could also think of implementing it differently if for example an
institution requires the keeping of portfolio pages. So for example if a
portfolio is submitted to a group, the tutor / admin sees the "Save as Leap2A"
button before releasing the portfolio so they could make a copy to keep. That
could be a manual option to what is proposed at
https://wiki.mahara.org/index.php/Developer_Area/Specifications_in_Development/Moodle_LTI_integration
 where a copy could be kept automatically.

Title:
  Button to reliably copy secret URLs

Status in Mahara:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
  Hi Team!
  Another Wishlist item - this time regarding copying secret URL's.
  At the moment we rely on students and staff to accurately select all of the
secret URL as seen in attached screenshot.

  This can be a hit and miss affair and leaving off even one character
  results in a broken link.

  My wish is for a "Copy link to clipboard" button - to make the
  select/copy process simple and painless.

  This feature can be seen on any Web2 app where someone has to copy
  embed code (eg. youtube, prezi) and just makes it easy.

  Thanks very much.
  Shane.

Title:
  Tags with special characters aren't found

Status in Mahara:
  Fix Released

Bug description:
  Im on 17.04.2.

  When on "My Tags" page (/tags.php), clicking on a tag with special
  characters to search for it returns nothing. This is because in the
  query, the special characters are replaced. The tag block is affected
  by this as well, but only on the "My Tags" page. It works well on the
  other page such as Journals and Pages and Collections.

  I found this by having the tag #test. When I search for it from the
  "My Tags" page, the page shows "Search results for %23test"

  So far, i've confirmed the problem with:
  # -> %23
  @ -> %40
  é -> %C3%A9
  è -> %C3%A8
  ê -> %C3%AA
