elements/renderers
Each element need to include at the top of the file a comment about what
settings it uses and whether they are optional or not.

Currently the basic pieform elements information lives in:
htdocs/lib/pieforms/pieform/
but there are also pieform elements that live in
htdocs/lib/forms/
Why do we need to have them in two places?
I can imagine that there might have been a reason to keep the pieform

Oddly, when I went back to reproduce the issue just now, I wasn't able
to.

I'm not getting that overlap on my Mahara install - can you let me know
the version of Mahara you are using and the theme that is being used?
The version can be found on the Administration home page and the theme
can be found on the Configure site - Site options page under Site
