2010-02-15 Thread Kristina Hoeppner
** Description changed:

When having a folder with sub folders displayed in a view, the HTML
export does not include the files that are in this sub folder. The sub
folder is not an active link. The folder does exist in the file
structure of the HTML web site, but it does not contain any files.

- We use Mahara 1.2 current stable on OSX and MySQL.
+ We use Mahara 1.2.3 on OSX and MySQL.

[Mahara-contributors] [Bug 598270] [NEW] Layout of tabs is screwed up when creating view in Firefox on Mac

2010-06-24 Thread Kristina Hoeppner
Public bug reported:

reported by Tim Fedak
Wednesday, 23 June 2010, 7:24 AM
I had noticed problem in the position of the blocktype box that houses the
various block types available to drag-drop when laying out a portfolio view.
The problem appears in Firefox 3.6.3 (on a Mac).

The left margin of the blocktype box was located on the right-hand
margin of the categories list. I traced this back to line #16 of the
views.css, which included a float: left; for the category-list. By
removing/commenting this line, the problem resolved itself.

I have not tested with other browsers, but thought other's might like to
know about this apparent layout bug.

The problem persists for him also in Firefox 3.6.4.

I (Kristina) can't replicate the bug in Firefox 3.6.4 on Mac 10.6.3
because I don't have that problem. - If we use his fix or find another
one, we should contact Tim for testing.

Hi All,

As we are planning a project that uses Mahara with iPad and iPhone in class, we
ran in to a small problem of the drag-and-drop not working in creating and
editing views. We solved it by modifing the views.js file to treat the devices
as ie6. We post it here to see whether there is better way to solve it and
possibly help others who ran into the same problem and want a quick fix :-)

Many Thanks

A the case study rep from VUW has emailed me to say that some of her tutor were
finding that by the time they had entered in a bunch of feedback on a student's
view, that the the system would log them out. I assume this means that when
they go to submit the feedback, they have been auto logged out and they have
lost their work.

I just want to check whether there was some server settig or something that
would cause this or whether it was a browser thing as I am assuming the 30
minutes inactivity time wouldn't kick in if the tutor was still typing
away/hadn't left their feedback there for 30 mins before submitting. Thanks.

[Mahara-contributors] [Bug 605696] [NEW] Use of colors in the themes

2010-07-14 Thread Kristina Hoeppner
Public bug reported:

Hi,

The colors in the themes should be revisited IMO. E.g.:
1. The powered by Mahara logo is not always very legible.
2. The colors, e.g. for the Quota bar are sometimes very light and thus not so
easy to see, especially if the amount of the color used is not very big.
3. The yellow pencil is not very rich in contrast.

[Mahara-contributors] [Bug 605705] [NEW] More information when deleting a view

2010-07-14 Thread Kristina Hoeppner
Public bug reported:

Hello,

Do you really want to delete this View? It cannot be undone. – Some
users may ask if their files and blog entries will also be lost when the
view is deleted.

Maybe a sentence should be added along the lines of All your files and
blog entries that you linked in this view will still be available.
However, if you have written text directly into text boxes, this will be
gone.

BUT if text boxes also get the artefact status then the second sentence
becomes redundant.

Maybe we can also provide a link to the portfolio export. That could be
used as backup (they could always do an HTML export to freeze their
portfolio in time). E.g. If you want to create a copy of your portfolio
in the state it was in before deleting, you may want to
[link]export[/link] it before you delete this view.

[Mahara-contributors] [Bug 605704] [NEW] List external artefacts in View overview

2010-07-14 Thread Kristina Hoeppner
Public bug reported:

Hello,

On My Views overview (and also on profile pages) only the artefacts are
listed that were imported into the view, e.g. files or internal blog
posts. Anything created directly in the view is not listed, e.g. text
boxes or embedded external videos. However, these are not necessarily
unimportant artefacts because students can also use them to write
reflections (text box though not perfect for that) or to post their own
videos (from YouTube etc.). Thus, these things should also appear in the
artefact list as they are also artefacts.

It is not very clear that you have to drag the folder / file icon in
order to move a file / folder. We discovered that by accident only. It
says so on top now (earlier it just read To move a file or folder, drag
and drop it onto a folder.) but it is still not so clear. Maybe already
adding folder or file icon could be an idea.

[Mahara-contributors] [Bug 605709] [NEW] Notification when about the delete file is needed

2010-07-14 Thread Kristina Hoeppner
Public bug reported:

1. There is no message that a file has been deleted when you click on it
➪ It is very easy to continue hitting delete and thus accidentally
deleting more files than wanted. ➪ A do you really want to delete this
file dialog should appear as it does when you delete a blog post.

[Mahara-contributors] [Bug 605725] [NEW] Make the tag field more prominent

2010-07-14 Thread Kristina Hoeppner
Public bug reported:

When you upload a file, you must explicitly click on the Edit button
to add description and tags. This may lead to the fact that people do
not enter that information which leads to not having tags at all simply
because people are not aware of this feature. I'd prefer to have the
edit dialog box open up immediately once a file has been uploaded so
that learners are pushed to entering tags (and description). ;-)

[Mahara-contributors] [Bug 605730] [NEW] Include Unpublish button for published blog posts

2010-07-14 Thread Kristina Hoeppner
Public bug reported:

Blog posts can also be unpublished. To be consistent, wouldn't we need
an Unpublish / Turn into Draft button for published posts? Even if
we didn't implement that, I would suggest to align the Edit and
Delete buttons of published and draft posts underneath each other.
That makes it easier to see that they are the same.

Another suggestion for the Unpublish help text instead of the one in the
screenshot: Already a little better wording for the help button: You can
turn published blog posts back into draft posts that only you can see.
However, these posts will then no longer appear in the view(s) where you
have used them.

[Mahara-contributors] [Bug 605736] [NEW] Retrieving export files

2010-07-14 Thread Kristina Hoeppner
Public bug reported:

Where are the portfolio export files stored? Apparently
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/mahara/+bug/547782) they are stored
somewhere.

Could they be retrieved if the export fails? I generated an export, but
disconnected from the internet before the download was finished. Since
then I have not been able to download an export again. When I try to
generate another export (a couple of hours later, a day later), it
usually does not do anything but just say Transferring After about
a week, the progress bar in the export moved and I got the link to
Continue. However, there was no file offered for download.

It would be good to have access to these files for a day or so before
they are deleted or like Moodle does, put them in the home directory of
the user. However, that takes away portfolio space.

[Mahara-contributors] [Bug 605743] [NEW] Link to profile is not obvious

2010-07-14 Thread Kristina Hoeppner
Public bug reported:

When you click on the Profile tab, you cannot view your profile anymore.
You either have to click on your name (not your login name) or go to the
profile view in the My Views overview.

It would be nice to have a link to the Profile view so that you can just
look at it.

When you click on your username, you only get to My Account, but I
assumed that I would also be able to view my profile. I found it clearer
in the old version where the settings can be accessed via Settings and
clicking on the user name or the regular name brings one to the profile.

[Mahara-contributors] [Bug 605750] [NEW] SSO and non-locked fields doesn't go well together

2010-07-14 Thread Kristina Hoeppner
Public bug reported:

When Mahoodle is in existence, students cannot change their name and
introduction. It would be good to disallow editing of the name fields
(or any other field that is managed) by default so that they are not
tempted to edit it anyway and then run into problems or wonder why the
new info is changed back to the old one.

There is the possibility to lock fields and disallow editing. However,
per default, a Mahoodle allows editing, but it always overwrites the
data with the data it imports from Moodle the next time students log in.
A number of users have complained about that (e.g. on Twitter) because
they didn't know that Moodle's info would be inserted again as the
fields in Mahara were editable.

I had this issue also on the 1.3 master.dev that I installed on my
computer. If I disallow the synchronization of data while setting up
Mahoodle, SSO does not work. Therefore, I think it would be good to
disallow editing of the managed fields all together for Mahoodle
institutions.

The size of the wysiwyg text box is IMO slightly too small and makes adding
posts (e.g. forum posts) slightly more labourious that I'd like.

I propose making the row/column size user configurable and applying that to all
instances where the editor is used.

I've written a patch and will supply it when I get it signed off.

BUT if text boxes also get the artefact status then the second sentence becomes
redundant.

Maybe we can also provide a link to the portfolio export. That could be used as
backup (they could always do an HTML export to freeze their portfolio in time).
E.g. If you want to create a copy of your portfolio in the state it was in
before deleting, you may want to [link]export[/link] it before you delete this
view.

Annoying: cursor does not show up in text field (I noticed it in replies to
forum entries on mahara.org v. 1.2) when first clicked into it. It's OK when
some text has been written. Cursor shows up then, but also not always (Mac,
Firefox 3.6.5). The problem seems to occur only the first time I log on because
the cursor was there immediately for subsequent forum entries. But then at
other times I did not have any cursor at all for a long time.

Where are the portfolio export files stored? Apparently
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/mahara/+bug/547782) they are stored somewhere.

Could they be retrieved if the export fails? I generated an export, but
disconnected from the internet before the download was finished. Since then I
have not been able to download an export again. When I try to generate another
export (a couple of hours later, a day later), it usually does not do anything
but just say Transferring After about a week, the progress bar in the
export moved and I got the link to Continue. However, there was no file
offered for download.

It would be good to have access to these files for a day or so before they are
deleted or like Moodle does, put them in the home directory of the user.
However, that takes away portfolio space.

[Mahara-contributors] [Bug 610641] [NEW] Increase heading size in blogs

2010-07-27 Thread Kristina Hoeppner
Public bug reported:

The headings for individual blog posts are very small. When you are on
the blog post overview page, you can only distinguish between one post
from another by the Edit and Delete buttons. Headings in a post are
often bigger (as they use h1, h2 etc.).

Could the blog post headings be made a bit more prominent? In the
standard new Mahara theme they are grey and can't be read so easily.

[Mahara-contributors] [Bug 613275] [NEW] No selection of the description for embedded media in a view possible

2010-08-03 Thread Kristina Hoeppner
Public bug reported:

Video files that can be embedded into a block can have a description. It
only shows up when the files is added via File(s) to download or
Folder, but not when they are embedded. It would be very useful to
have the description show up below the video, e.g. to give brief
instructions to start the video, display the credit etc. because then
you don't have to use a textbox for that.

Furthermore, you only get to the details page from the file or folder
download blocks, but not when you click on the file link in the embedded
media block virtually not allowing to view the detail page altogether.

[Mahara-contributors] [Bug 619147] [NEW] Employment Education History without descriptions

2010-08-17 Thread Kristina Hoeppner
Public bug reported:

When inserting employment and education history in a view, they are

position title. However, if I have a number of them, that could be quite
tedious.

Would it be possible to include a button Show all details / Hide all
details so that all descriptions could be displayed at once? Employers
usually don't have much time to look at a CV.

Bug description:
When a user creates a new collection and they get to the views stage access for
each views access is updated immediately as it is added.

This means that if a user decides that they don't want the collection anymore
and cancel then the view access is already updated and they have lost original
settings on views.

The user might also just add a view and then immediately decide that wasn't the
right decision and remove from the list.

This is an issue for both new and existing collections.

The help file does mention this is going to happen, but I'm thinking it is not
the most appropriate event for access updating to occur on anyway.

Solutions might be to:

For new collections:
a) update access only on the final stage when user saves collection completely
b) alert user somehow that views are going to have their access updated when
they navigate past the views page

For existing collections:
a) only update when the user is completely finished with the page (clicking
'Done') and ensure it is clear that the access will be updated at this time

Any other ideas?

[Mahara-contributors] [Bug 620152] [NEW] Textbox editor displays Times New Roman

2010-08-18 Thread Kristina Hoeppner
Public bug reported:

The textbox editor in a view displays Times New Roman instead of the
standard Arial. In addition, the font size is much larger so that you
cannot see a lot of text in there. Could the textbox be as big as the
one used in the forums and as font size have Arial?

[Mahara-contributors] [Bug 620161] [NEW] Distinction between Name and Profile not clear

2010-08-18 Thread Kristina Hoeppner
Public bug reported:

I still have trouble clicking on the correct link and think and
adjustment may be necessary.

When I click on my name, I am taken to my profile page as others can see
it.

When I click on Profile, I can edit my profile, but I would think that
I could actually view it.

Having the name and Profile right next to each other is not ideal, I
think, because they are almost the same, but not quite.

When I'm on my profile page (the view), I don't know how to get back to
my dashboard - Oh. I have to click on the Mahara logo.

I like that we have Settings instead of the username in the top right
because that already lessens confusion.

What about the following:
- Include a link Home in the navigation links before the others.
- Profile (also in the tabs on the dashboard page etc.) links to the profile
view.
- And somewhere we need a link Edit Profile Information to get to all that
stuff. It could go next to Edit Content (though then people might be confused
to distinguish between adding profile info and dragging that info into a view).

Any ideas?

[Mahara-contributors] [Bug 620175] [NEW] Display of the colon in employment history titles in resume and view

2010-08-18 Thread Kristina Hoeppner
Public bug reported:

This is a minor thing and hopefully easy to fix.

When you are adding employment history titles and the employer, there's
a colon between the two. In the resume (in profile), the colon is
enclosed by spaces, but there shouldn't be a space between the title and
the colon (in English and many other languages except for French ;-) ).

When you look at the employment information in a view, there is no space
between the title and the colon, which is the correct way.

[Mahara-contributors] [Bug 620258] [NEW] View access accessible when view is in a collection

2010-08-18 Thread Kristina Hoeppner
Public bug reported:

When a view is in a collection, its Edit Access page is still
accessible and the access rights can be changed. When I went into the
collection access rights, the new user had been added as well though I
did not get a message on the view access page telling me that I update
the collection access at the same time.

When I go to the view access page of another view in the same
collection, I still have the old access rights in there.

As collection access rights overwrite view access rights, I would
disable the Edit View Access link on a view that sits in a collection.
The user cannot get to it from the view overview page - why should he
get to it on the actual view? That would make it easier to edit the
access rights for a collection really only on the collection page.

[Mahara-contributors] [Bug 620261] [NEW] Help for getting the dashboard back

2010-08-18 Thread Kristina Hoeppner
Public bug reported:

The explanations of how to use Mahara on the dashboard page can be
removed from the homepage too easily by clicking on the remove button
and it's gone.

A number of people I talked to wanted to have it back, but don't know
how to do that. It's hidden away in a user's settings.

Could the remove button get a pop-up message like You are about to
remove the information on how to use Mahara. If you want to display it
again, you can get it back in your Settings. (buttons Cancel and Delete
[I think these are the standard buttons])?

2010-08-19 Thread Kristina Hoeppner
Hi Stacey,

Are you talking about the link to the access page from the view
itself?

Yes, exactly.

I'm fonder of option a) when it can be made clear that they will be
looking at the collection access page and not the view access page. And
that they'll be changing the access for the entire collection.

[Mahara-contributors] [Bug 620161] Re: Distinction between Name and Profile not clear

2010-08-23 Thread Kristina Hoeppner
Hi Richard,

Yes, I am talking about the disappearing links on a view. :-)

Actually, I quite like to have (almost) all the links in that menu that
I also see on the dashboard. That adds consistency because I don't have
to think about to which page I need to go to get to all these links (It
annoys me in Moodle, for example, that I could not reach the profile or
logout from every page, for example). As they are not constantly there,
but only appear when I hover over them, they are not like a big
navigation.

Usually, I somehow find my way back to the dashboard before going into
groups, but we don't know how others are using the navigation. They may
actually jump directly from a view to a group or their profile. IT would
be really good to get some real users to talk through the navigation
before making tremendous changes like taking out most links.

[Mahara-contributors] [Bug 617067] Re: Collections / View navigation - usability problems

2010-08-23 Thread Kristina Hoeppner
Hi Richard,

So unless anyone has strong objections, I think we should link the
collection name to the first view in the collection, if the collection
is not empty.

I think that is a sensible solution. Will we have a link somewhere on
the view pages that says Edit Collection and Edit Collection Access
so that users, like on views, can get to the edit page easily?

Bug description:
View Collections, the way they are currently on master, are confusing for users
seeing them for the first time.

People may think that they're a way of organising and ordering views into
folders (for the owner to find them more easily). That's another feature that
has been requested by people on the forums but it's not addressed by this stuff
at all.

Part of the problem is that the name 'Collection' doesn't really express the
fact that the only point in putting views together into these 'things' is just
so that views can be linked to each other when they're being displayed to
others.

Comment from David Drummond on the forums:

I *do* see collections as something that could evolve in a lot of different
useful directions - something that could come in an iterative process - and
that may cover a way to organise views. Not quite there yet though granted. For
that reason I'd suggest leaving them as collections might be a good idea to
drive that direction of development in future iterations - rather than having
to rename something again down the track.

If that's unreasonable, then maybe something more explicit to the actual
initial use case is needed. Perhaps Navigation Lists? or even Manage View
Menus (and change the blocktype to View Menu).

Comment from Richard Wyles via email:

Yes, there's also a problem with a View only being able to belong to one
Collection - users won't understand the access challenge/conflict which is the
reason? Can't Title, Description and adding Views to Collection be all on one
page? Then the action could be on the My Views page and be called Connect Views
or something. Keen to be included in discussions like this as the more menu
items and pages then it becomes harder to achieve good usability. The other
route to this via the Access page dashboard.

[Mahara-contributors] [Bug 623120] [NEW] Fix submit button for views in one place

2010-08-23 Thread Kristina Hoeppner
Public bug reported:

from http://mahara.org/interaction/forum/topic.php?id=2173#post9613 on
23 August 2010

Hi,

We have lecturers complaining about the submit button appears all over
the places under submit view for assessment. Because it displays
randomly on the page for students, it's very easy for students to click
on the submit button by mistake. Their views then get locked until the
lecturer goes in and releases the view back to the students. Please
click here to see the submit view for assessment page.

Is there anyway of making sure the section appears consistantly on the
page? Or is it possible to hide the submit button if the lecturer
chooses not to assess the views for a particular group?

Thanks, Shen

--

Response by Richard on 24 August 2010

Hi Shen,

If you don't want submissions to a particular group, you can edit the
group settings and change the type from Course to Standard.

We should also change the default themes to line the submit buttons up
properly. Feel free to file a bug report for this at
https://bugs.launchpad.net/mahara/+filebug and either attach your
screenshot there, or just add a link to this thread.

If you're in a hurry to fix it, you will need to edit the css files for
your theme (htdocs/theme/themename/static/style/style.css).

Hi Richard,

We've had a tester using FF 3.0.11 on master.dev and he ran across the

August 2010

Hi,

We have lecturers complaining about the submit button appears all over the
places under submit view for assessment. Because it displays randomly on the
page for students, it's very easy for students to click on the submit button by
mistake. Their views then get locked until the lecturer goes in and releases
the view back to the students. Please click here to see the submit view for
assessment page.

Is there anyway of making sure the section appears consistantly on the page? Or
is it possible to hide the submit button if the lecturer chooses not to assess
the views for a particular group?

Thanks, Shen

--

Response by Richard on 24 August 2010

Hi Shen,

If you don't want submissions to a particular group, you can edit the group
settings and change the type from Course to Standard.

We should also change the default themes to line the submit buttons up
properly. Feel free to file a bug report for this at
https://bugs.launchpad.net/mahara/+filebug and either attach your screenshot
there, or just add a link to this thread.

If you're in a hurry to fix it, you will need to edit the css files for your
theme (htdocs/theme/themename/static/style/style.css).

[Mahara-contributors] [Bug 623648] [NEW] File upload from within a view doesn't always show finished uploading

2010-08-24 Thread Kristina Hoeppner
Public bug reported:

When I re-upload an HTML file from within a view with the same name, it
is not always shown as being uploaded, but the wheel continues to turn.
However, the file is uploaded, because when I click Save and return to
the settings, I can see the file with the new name.

In a couple of occasions, the file was shown immediately, but in 5 out
of 8 it wasn't.

[Mahara-contributors] [Bug 547315] Re: Embedding iframes in the HTML editor

Embedding without iframe works nicely. However, I just saw that Vimeo

Currently, it is still possible to switch to the old code, but for how
long? Is there any chance to implement a specific vimeo embed like for
YouTube?

[Mahara-contributors] [Bug 624272] [NEW] Can't insert attached image in blog post

2010-08-25 Thread Kristina Hoeppner
Public bug reported:

Reported by Mark Terry
(http://mahara.org/interaction/forum/topic.php?id=2181#post9656)

I believe this issue was raised a couple of months ago, but I'm not
sure if it has been resolved. I am using version 1.2.5. when I try to
embed a graphic in a Blog, I only get an option to input the image URL,
but not the drop down menu enabling me to choose an image.

I tested this on demo.mahara and there I could not insert an attached
image either. I only got the URL field. It works fine on master.dev.
However, on master.dev I cannot insert an external image anymore once I
have attached one. Thus, a combination of external and internal images
doesn't work.

[Mahara-contributors] [Bug 620261] Re: Help for getting the dashboard back

2010-08-26 Thread Kristina Hoeppner
Hi Ruslan and Richard,

My dialog box would have only appeared when the user clicked the remove
button. Maybe I was not explaining it well. :-( I am OK with the system
message because even if a person reads the message, they won't remember
in 2 weeks time where they can change the settings.

I think we'd have to have a clear entry in the user guide of how to get
that box back. Maybe we can even identify 10 or more FAQ and handle them
separately.

A number of people I talked to wanted to have it back, but don't know how to do

Could the remove button get a pop-up message like You are about to remove the
information on how to use Mahara. If you want to display it again, you can get
it back in your Settings. (buttons Cancel and Delete [I think these are the
standard buttons])?

[Mahara-contributors] [Bug 624459] [NEW] Group views should have the same artefacts as normal views

2010-08-26 Thread Kristina Hoeppner
Public bug reported:

It would be good, in my opinion to have the usual artefacts available to
populate a group view that each individual has.

On the group homepage I can hardly put anything except external feeds
and video. What if I want to display an internal image, e.g. the club
logo?

It would also be good to have the other artefacts. A group view could be
used to collect information about all group members, e.g. skills, goals,
other profile info. Students could also use it as a one-stop place to
show all their internal Mahara blog posts (similar to Pageflakes etc.).

Therefore, I would not limit the artefacts to the currect ones.

It is also not possible to copy a view that contains blog posts.
Currently, that makes sense because groups don't have blogs as
artefacts. If the blog posts retain the posted by [the original
author] (which IMHO should be a requirement when copying views already
due to antiplagiarism), then there is also no question about ownership
of a blog post.

Actually, I would like to extend this feature wish: An admin should be

[Mahara-contributors] [Bug 628353] [NEW] Controlled group: Show with whom views are shared

2010-09-01 Thread Kristina Hoeppner
Public bug reported:

reported by Tim Fedak at from
http://mahara.org/interaction/forum/topic.php?id=2212#post9754

Within a Standard Controlled Group, (and also within Course Group) it
would seem helpful if the Shared Views module would be more specific if
the View was shared with Admin Only, Tutor Only, Members only,
You personally, or the Entire Group. Right now it just says Views
share with this group by others, which makes it hard for an Admin/Tutor
to know if the student shared the view with the entire group, or the
tutor only, likewise for student members.

Within a Standard Controlled Group, (and also within Course Group) it would
seem helpful if the Shared Views module would be more specific if the View was
shared with Admin Only, Tutor Only, Members only, You personally, or
the Entire Group. Right now it just says Views share with this group by
others, which makes it hard for an Admin/Tutor to know if the student shared
the view with the entire group, or the tutor only, likewise for student members.

[Mahara-contributors] [Bug 628437] [NEW] Adding members to a group results in error message

2010-09-01 Thread Kristina Hoeppner
Public bug reported:

On master.dev I've tried to add people to a controlled membership group
via the multiple add feature.

When I search for a name, I get the error message: Master Branch: Site
unavailable. A nonrecoverable error occured. This probably means you
have encountered a bug in the system

[Mahara-contributors] [Bug 631278] [NEW] friend request issues (with two similar accounts)

2010-09-05 Thread Kristina Hoeppner
Public bug reported:

Charlie and I had a bit of trouble with friend requests on master.dev.

Here's the timeline of the events:

1. Charlie sends friend request to Kristina (member of Mahoodle).
2. Kristina accepts friend request and leaves browser window (FF 3.6 on Mac
10.6) open (and sends a wall message to Charlie as well)
3. Charlie sends friend request to Kristina DC (admin on master.dev)
4. real Kristina clicks on link in email and sees the friend request in Mahara
BUT while still logged in as Kristina (and not Kristina DC). It says 1 pending
friend there despite it being the request for Kristina DC
5. Kristina tries to approve friend request but gets error message: Mahara:
Master Branch: Site unavailable. A nonrecoverable error occured. This probably
means you have encountered a bug in the system.
6. Kristina tries to deny friend request and succeeds.
7. Charlie receives friend denial from Kristina, but is still friends with
Kristina on master.dev as that was the denial for the friend request for
Kristina DC
8. real Kristina logs into Mahara as Kristina DC and sees friend request from
Charlie
9. Kristina DC can accept friend request without problems

[Mahara-contributors] [Bug 631278] Re: friend request issues (with two similar accounts)

2010-09-06 Thread Kristina Hoeppner
The link had not detected that I actually needed to log in as a
different user. If we say that this is not possible, then it is still a
bit strange that I could deny the friend request, but still have Charlie
show up as one of my friends afterward.

[Mahara-contributors] [Bug 631302] Re: Changing themes is not changing throwing errors

Bug description:
Hello crew I have created a user and created a profile for my user. I then
tried to change the theme and the following are the issues

1. I selected Aqua and it showed the loading circle for the selection to be
initiated, after the circle had completed spinning the selected choice Aqua
disappeared from the dropdown view - (n the past you selection stays in the
drop down window.)

2 Another thing is I proceeded to choose other themes, than Aqua though the
chosen themes stayed in the drop down view, the chosen Theme colour does not
show up only the standard colour when a user first enters the site.

3. Also when an admin tries changing a the theme for the entire site, it still
shows only the standard theme

[Mahara-contributors] [Bug 631278] Re: friend request issues (with two similar accounts)

2010-09-06 Thread Kristina Hoeppner
I could not reproduce the error today when I created a new user and went
through the steps I had detailed above.

Bravo clicks on link in Charlie's e-mail
(http://mahara.local/user/view.php?id=3) - For me this is still:
Charlie clicks on link in Alpha's mail and get's taken to Alpha's
profile page being logged in as Bravo. New (and better) though is that
Bravo can only remove Alpha from his friends.

Were it possible to verify that the correct user is actually logged in
when a friend request is sent and the user clicks on the link. Though it
may not occur too often that people have multiple accounts.

[Mahara-contributors] [Bug 619284] Re: grouphomepage and dashboard views don't use themes, but can be set

Bug description:
When editing a grouphomepage or a dashboard view type, you can set the theme
for the view, but when viewing the group/homepage, the theme isn't used.

Options are:
a) Don't allow them to choose the theme; or
b) Have the relevant pages respect themes.

Option a is obviously pretty easy by modifying view/blocks.php to only assign
viewthemes if the view isn't in array('grouphomepage', 'dashboard'),
Option b may be preferable long term.

[Mahara-contributors] [Bug 632308] Re: User can submit view for assesment to the group where s/he has admin or tutor role

2010-09-07 Thread Kristina Hoeppner
Hi Ruslan,

There was a brief discussion on that at
http://mahara.org/interaction/forum/topic.php?id=2212

I'd favor this solution of yours: allowing it only if there are other
tutors or admins in the group (in which case user will not be able to
assess own view despite the role

Not sure if it is a bug. User is able to submit a view for assessment to the
group where s/he is the admin or tutor (i.e. submit a view for assessment to
oneself). I suggest to fix it either by disabling such possibility completely,
or allowing it only if there are other tutors or admins in the group (in which
case user will not be able to assess own view despite the role). Fix is ready,
just need a confirmation from community.
