Several versions ago, we implemented the probation points as a measure
to protect against spam. this doesn't allow a newly registered person to
post active links.
Additionally, objectionable content can be reported and all forum posts
can be moderated, which would help in a public forum on sites
An update on this, we check forum posts for blacklisted URLs. But we
don't apply the other anti-spam checks against forum posts. See
