You guys have to check out ipset for significantly improving iptables responsiveness? http://daemonkeeper.net/781/mass-blocking-ip-addresses-with-ipset/ Check out the response times for 0 to 48000 rules. ***note that the scale for the iptables chart is 0-25 ms the ipset scale is 0-1.4 ms
