It's a different use case, but we occasionally get complaints that on
sites with large numbers of lists (and it can get into the thousands)
(1) navigation is hard, and (2) timeouts are frequent enough to
obstruct work.

Views would definitely address (1) and if implemented efficiently
would address (2) as well.  So I think patches would be welcome.
